Well that was a fun 5 minutes. Defense the Achilles heel this year.

I haven't like Tim Ream since he was with the Metrostars as a young player. Hardly was the problem though. The unit overall hasn't been cohesive. Blown coverage on all three against. Egregiously.
 
Men against boys. GG Holland. Quarters between them and Argentina should be a good game. :tup:
 
P.S. the overconfidence from USSoccer media and among the fanbase overall was cringeworthy. At best this game was a toss up. No humility after failing to qualify needing a tie against T+T last time around. 2026 and 2030 are your best shots to make a run. This group isn't ready yet.

Yep.

We need a better striker. I think we missed Sargent today, but I don't think he's the one. Haji Wright is Haji Wrong.
 
Better second half from USA. Got in about the Dutch and ruffled them. No idea how their goal went in. Seemed to defy physics.

Defending was naive and for each goal an unmarked man scored. Need to sort that out.

Young side though so lots of time to improve over next 4 years.

Pulisic annoyed me. Thinks he’s Maradona. He’s not. Learn to pass the ball and stop trying to score a wonder goal.

The best way to go is to play Gio in a false 9 role with Pulisic and Weah ahead of him on the wings. Berhalter will never do that though.

I don’t think it was anywhere near a toss up. If the US media thought that then they’re deluded. Netherlands so far ahead of USA technically. USA seem really naive to me. Headless chickens at times. Maybe get a European coach to add some much needed composure.

Yeah, on their best day this was a toss up, the Dutch were pretty heavy favorites to me. I expected 2-1 Holland, wasn't too far off from that.

I think that there’s a lot to be encouraged about in the second half performance. I don’t see much of the USA but they seem quite an “emotional” side.
I think if they can calm it a bit when in possession they’ll improve. Your fullbacks need to learn to come inside when defending.
The Dutch are a good side so I wouldn’t be too disheartened.
