Online Home Poker (3 Viewers)

Things got a little cray cray last night, and I've got a few people keeping multi-hundred dollar balances in Poker Mavens. Anyone here doing anything like a backup/snapshot of the accounts as a way to ensure all that digital money doesn't accidentally get messed up?
Mine is a much smaller site, and I cash everybody out after every game. I take a picture of the account balances just before I delete the balances (in case anyone wants proof of their balance).

There is also a tool from Briggs Software that you can use to filter the event log for account history (I'll have to look to find where I filed it), or you can just search the event log using Notepad's search function for specific player names or account history (time consuming and not user friendly). Note that the event logs are deleted after a certain time period (configurable in system settings), so you may want to back them up every so often.

Edit - Zip file attached contains Poker Mavens event viewer. In PM go to System - Help - Locate data folder. Open event viewer, Select Files (data folder from previous step), then Set Filters (accounts should be enough for what you are trying to do)

Cheers!

I'm only allowing players to carry a certain balance to future games.

I don't mind my 12-15 players keeping a small balance. But the insanity of the post-tourny cash game allowed some accounts to go way over. I think I'll force a cash out down to $40. I did take pictures of the accounts. I didn't know about that tool, so I'll give it a try. Thanks guys!

Thank you SO much for this! Had a bunch of questions today about the balances, and this gave me what I needed to show them!

Depends on your needs Davin - theres a few levels of the software depending on number of tables and desire for customization.

Between 110 and 450 with using the amazon web services free tier for the server side. And a few hours of time for setup.

That's about right

Except for me, the "few hours" was about 40+ haha! But I have limited computer & IT skills just ask @BearMetal, @p5woody, and @CraigT78.

If you decide to get a site up let me know I can help as I just went through all of it.

Best of luck!

It really is unbelievable! I can't tell you how awesome the software is. I have received nothing but compliments from all my friends and family. It works seamlessly on a PC, iPhone or iPad and nothing to download so its almost idiot-proof for the players.

Does Poker Mavens have the look back feature like PokerStars, where you can look back at a previously played hand?

does it hold a bankroll so u don't need to keep cashing in players or cashing them out?

Yes, check out the link below to see the interface. Under accounts you'll see the details held. The admin alters balances there, and it's just a number of course - all real money is through venmo/PayPal/cash exchange.

Yes the software keeps a bankroll. You should setup a free Windows computer running on Amazon's AWS cloud. Search through this thread back about 2 weeks and you'll find lots of posts by myself and other members on setting it up.

Yes and no. For the admin, you can see every hand history in the logs. For the client (user), no playback feature exists. You could contact the admin (provide the hand #) and have him search the logs and send it to you.

It is probably possible to write a script for the API that would allow hand playback, but as with bounties, this feature is not supported or likely to be supported any time soon.

During the game, the extended chat should have it, no? I was able to look back last night.

@CraigT78 how much it cost to set up a online table like that ?

You can buy the single table Lite version for $40. The multi-table Pro version is $150 ($110 to upgrade from Lite). The $450 Gold version is pretty much the same as Pro, but allows you to remove the Poker Mavens branding and put in your own (or none). As mentioned, AWS is free (for 12 months), but you must open an account with your credit card.

Sort of. It will tell what hands were visible at showdown, and who won. It won't tell who folded when, or who bet what when (unless there is some configuration option that I am missing).

History log will show every bet and every action. I think it will also show what each player was holding, even if they didn't get to showdown (if you are less than ethical, I suppose you could use this to get tells on your friends). Edit - Hand History only shows cards visible at showdown.

When logged into the Poker Mavens IP address, should it say “NOT SECURE” in bright red letters? This is gonna freak some people out.

Also, I just asked @CraigT78 this question in a PM, but figured someone here probably already know the answer so I’ll ask it here too. Here we go:

I fired up the AWS server so that it is running, remoted in to run the software, then closed the remote session and turned off the laptop.

Then I went to my iPad and typed in the IP address followed by “:8087/“ and found the site no problem. I created my player profile.

Then I realized that I needed to open a second tab because I need to set up the table. So I opened another tab, typed the exact same IP address used earlier, but added “admin” after the “/“ ... and I get a message that says, “remote administration is not enabled at this site.” Is that a setting I needed to click on when I connected remotely the first time? I feel like I am close.

@Himewad That message about not being secure is normal and expected. The lite version doesn't support TLS encryption (https) and instead only supports http. With the pro license, you can specify a certificate. Creating one can be daunting, but we can walk you through it.

Daunting is correct, I starting looking into this when I upgraded and gave up about 5 minutes into my research

I found a website that sells the SSL Certificates and it isn't hard to do at all. They make the process VERY easy and you just need to point your PM Server to three of the files.

SSL Cert Site

There are a bunch of free options, but those require a bit of knowledge and hand-holding. The pay sites do make it easier.

  we'll see how this goes.... PM incoming.

It has probably been written here before but donkhouse.com works great if you can use venmo/Paypal FF between yourselves. Me and my friends use it to host home games pretty frequently and you can even add rules like the 72 rule, bomb pots, and run it twice. I think they have struggled with server overload in the past but its fixed now :)

Holy crap, I can’t even figure out where to start to set up a tournament. Was hoping to do a test run tonight. Is there a users manual or something for Poker Mavens?
