Paulson: Full label replacement tutorial thread (5 Viewers)

Edit: reading the beginning of the thread is always a good idea! NANPR and a needle it is.

So these Gold Strike roulette labels are of a very different variety than the generic roulettes I’ve been working on. Is this laminate vs the paper inlays I’ve been working with?

They are much thinner, less forgiving. Seems like scraping the under label off will be more difficult than the paper labels tbh, unless whatever solvent I use allows them to just lift off?

This is such a great write up! I love how much has been contributed to this thread over the years. I’ll add my contribution.

I’ve been building a Tiger palace set for a while now and thought I was done until I ran out of 5’s in my cash game a few weeks ago.

I was set on Primary 20’s for the most part but felt I had too many light colored chips and needed a black $20 denomination.

The 43mm TP T100 is what I chose and I was dead set on relabeling myself rather than sending them in thanks to this thread and @kk405

Following all advice from this thread and from private conversations, I dug my heels in and gave it a shot.

It was nerve racking taking a utility knife similar to what @Nanook used to a brand new chip that is said to be easy but costs $12 each.

My first chip took me about 15 minutes and went pretty well. I still need to do a final cleaning before my labels show up from @Gear and @Wifey

Not bad at all IMO

Here’s some progression pics showing my process. All that was needed was the small breakaway blade utility knife, a safety pin, needle nose pliers, q-tips and NANPR from CVS.

I started with the utility knife scoring through the laminate to the vinyl so as to not gouge the chip. Then prying up enough to grab the laminate with needle nose pliers to get it started.

Then with my fingers I was able to peel the laminate off in a circular motion while pulling up on the laminate. Most of the time, the laminate will pull up on the vinyl causing it to bubble up a bit on the recesses under the vinyl.

From there, it’s extremely simple to peel off the vinyl. In my experience, slow and steady wins the race. I had many that didn’t need any NANPR to clean off the adhesive. Here’s my first barrel completed. It took about 3.5 hours but the next barrel will likely only take about 1.5 hours now that I’ve built up my confidence level.

All in all, it was not that bad at all and I got to the point where it only took me a few minutes per label to remove. I hope that putting the new labels on goes this smooth.

Thank you PCF and members who did the dirty work contributing to this thread!

Let’s see it with your new labels!

This is such a great write up!...

On the scale of easiest to most difficult, Tigers are somewhere near the easier end of different chips to murder. Ask me how I know....lol
