PCF Cigars (20 Viewers)

Got a buddy who’s got his own shop now, this is my second time getting a blind sampler of stuff from him. Love being able to set a price and count of sticks and knowing I’ll get a good mix of new goodies and beloved oldies. All this for $295 total which feels great to me when you include the tailored sampler experience.

Yes they're good but not worth the $8 you usually find em at imo. Do you like more full bodied sticks? I would rec MF Gran Oferta lanceros over those for similar price
I enjoy the Oliva Serie V lancero quite a bit, but I'm strangely not a fan of the Churchill. The Figurado is fine but not my first choice.

Don't think there's a better community than the cigar community. In London for the weekend and popped into a cigar lounge for a smoke. Was smoking my first cigar and struck up a conversation with the guy next to me, who then bought me the cigar he was smoking as I'd never tried a Lancero before:

Plasencia is basically unbeatable in my book right now. Haven’t had that particular stick yet but the Alma Fuerte Salomon has been coasting at the top of my favorites list for a while

So consistently brilliant it's unreal!

These don’t appear to be readily available in the U.S. Anyone?

The generosity of the cigar community is amazing. I keep inventory of everything in my collections: poker chips, whiskey, now cigars. I was trying to rectify why I have so many more cigars than I have a record of purchasing and then I realized it was because I'd been gifted so many cigars by members of the cigar smoking community!

I've taken it to heart as well and enjoyed introducing people to cigars they haven't had yet or sharing 'harder to find stuff' with people who 'haven't had one of those in a long time.'

I’m on a steak, smoking on cold rainy Boston nights. First time with this highly embellished pigtailed Aganorsa Leaf. Will report back.

Jotting some notes as I smoke. Maybe some of you will be interested in more thorough reviews. I know I love them from others.

Pre-light, the wrapper has an intense and wonderful smell which I can only describe as BBQ meets coffee shop. It’s salty, meaty, but has a strong dark roast undertone.

The first third opens up a lot less heavy than I expected from the smell of the wrapper and comes in heavy with pepper and a bit of warm spice

The second third mellows even further and the pepper falls off to be replaced by nutmeg and more warm spice

The final third! Thank god for this third. I’m actually more of a mild-medium guy usually but as fall sets in and I smoke in the rainy cold I like more nicotine and a heavy smoke and this third brought a lot more of that. The meaty taste and dark roast from the wrapper swung into play and with a strong pepperiness on the retrohale this cigar closed out quite nicely.

I smoked quickly and the conditions were less than ideal so I’ll need to come back to this one but overall an enjoyable smoke but not my favorite.

Trying this tonight. Low expectations bc I see this as a novelty cigar but will report back. No PVW to go with it. Having a pour of McKenna

I noticed the foot was different color from the head. So I removed the band.

The foot smells like cigar. Medium to mild with some age on it. The head smells a little funky and sour. Not in a bad way. Is the wrapper soaked in bourbon? I dunno.

I’ll write up more after the light.

Toasted the foot. Smelled like cigar.
First light: this draws really well. Rich smoke full of leather and little to no spice. Smokes like it’s been aged for a while. It’s actually pretty good to my surprise. Medium to mild which is what I really like. Also the retroexhale is easy and so far not tongue bite

First third. It’s smoking really well. Rich smoke but very mild and mellow. I can taste some pepper coming on. The ash is light grey and holding well. It’s has a good construction. I filled my mouth with smoke and had a sip of the McKenna I poured and they match up and compliment each other.

Ash fell right when I got into the second third. Still smoking well and no canoeing which happens to a lot of my cigars bc I smoke too fast. I am trying to pace myself so I don’t let it burn too hot but it’s still pretty good. A little more pepper but still very mellow. I didn’t think much would change in this third since wrapper looked the same. I expect the last third will be very different given the funky wrapper

Into the last third and I expected it to be much fuller bodied given the darker wrapper but surprisingly it’s still really mellow. I took a whiff of the smoke coming off the cigar and it’s really buttery but not like pie crust, more like brown butter. It’s not burning as evenly but that started at the end of the second third. It’s even more mellower and deeper and richer in smoke. This last third is even better than the first two. The retroexhale is more fuller and harsher but not irritating. But overall it’s an excellent cigar. I am very impressed considering drew estate is hit or miss with me. Mostly miss. I’m gonna go back to the shop tomorrow and try to get a box of them if they have. I will say the last third is having trouble staying lit but probably because the wrapper is different
