My wife and I watch iZombie and enjoy it, they definitely pulled a Game of Thrones with all the kill-offs in the season finale. I enjoyed the first season of The Leftovers and season 2 lost me after a few episodes

Edit: Oh, love all the puns in iZombie, like the main character being named "Liv Moore" and the new organization called "Fillmore Graves"

Started The 100 yesterday, am six episodes in. It's not outstanding television and everything that's happened so far was fairly predictable but I am liking it well enough. The three main chicks on the ground are hot enough to keep me watching :)

Anyone watch the season premiere of Silicon Valley last night? I almost enjoyed it more than Game of Thrones...

We'll watch both of those tonight. Jake and I probably more excited for SV than GOT anyways.

There is some girl on girl action in Season 2 that you will enjoy haha. The one Greek girl is smoking.

Haven't watched either yet but SV is a current favorite. I love both it and Halt and Catch Fire. Different eras of tech startups. Both compelling.

Anyone watch Penny Dreadful? S3 premier was good. The ending revealed the main villain for this season. Very excited about it.

Caught up with all ep of The Fall and almost with Happy Valley. Both great but I've developed an accent now 'aven't ahh?

Still gotta get on the second season of the Fall but loved season one. And Happy Valley seems really underrated in the US. Not sure if it was a hit in the UK.

Anyone see Billions? Koppleman and Levine created and write it. Decent cast. Turns out a friend of mine from high school is in 5 episodes.

Starting it tonight.

I find that Koppelman is very hit or miss. He has a few great things under his belt (Rounders, Solitary Man, The Girlfriend Experience), but a few of huge duds (Tilt, Walking Tall, Runner Runner) and a few projects in between. I haven't bothered yet with Billions - it looked a little stock and predictable to me - but if your review is positive I might give it a chance.

I'm about halfway through the season. It's good not great. Paul Giamatti and David Costabile are favorites of mine, and I generally like Damien Lewis and Maggie Siff.

There are moments where both the writing and the performances feel wooden. I usually blame the writing over the performer, these are capable pros. The foreshadowing is not as heavy handed as a Dan Brown novel, but could use a little more subtlety.

I think we agree on their great stuff, and though I liked Tilt more than you seem too, we agree on runner runner. I skipped walking tall.

I'll give a final review after finishing the season, but aside from Maggie Siff in dominatrix wear, and some momentary moments of strong performances, and Malin Akerman's breasts, it's a pretty lukewarm 2nd tier show so far.

I finished season 1 of Billions. I stand by my initial impression at the halfway point. A good second tier show. Strong cast, ok writing with some wooden and uninspired bits.

One thing I did appreciate, there was a poker table in the background of a scene, and it was a nicer setup than some recent movies have portrayed Vegas casinos as having.

I never watch TV - only series I have seen all the way through in my life are West Wing, House, Sopranos (marathon style), Breaking Bad (marathon style), Boston Legal (marathon style) and now The Americans (and so far, Better Call Saul).

Americans is solid so far - we're 1/4 through Season 2 and watching 2 episodes nightly.

Does the show hold up in Season 3 and thus far in 4?

I think it does. Season 3 more so than Season 4. Its still one of my favorite shows.

Anyone catch "Preacher" last night? I plan on watching it tonight. I've read a few solid reviews on it.

Anyone who enjoys Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and hasn't yet watched Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, give it a shot. I thought I was pretty much over the humorous news "hot takes" but I'm catching up on past episodes of Full Frontal and it really is good.

The structure being necessarily different from John Oliver given the required commercial breaks, the show feels much more like the heir to the Daily Show than the actual new Daily Show at this point.

Here are a couple of clips (parts 1 and 2) that have been going around that are as good as any I've seen watching past episodies:

I watched it. I was underwhelmed but I'm going to stick with it.

Really? I have to disagree. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next few episodes. I'm not familiar with the "Preacher" comics. I had no idea where it was going. It was kind of fun figuring out the first episode.

I also watched the most recent episode of Silicone Valley. I thought this was the weakest episode of the season. It was meh and predictable.

I missed it!!!

I've been a huge Preacher fan since the beginning... One of the best graphic novels series of all time imo... The trailers of the show seemed just okay... I really, really, really hope they are able to translate the vibe of the novel into the small screen...

I know nothing about the comic either. I didn't think it was bad. I just wasn't geeked after seeing it.

I don't have anything to compare it too. I thought it was fun, weird, and fucked up all at the same time.

Well, if it was fucked up then it's Preacher, hahahaha... Seth Rogan was one of the guys pushing for it to be made and I'm guessing he is a huge fan as well... I have high hopes until I'm proven wrong... Will be away for two weeks though so I'll have to catch up once I'm back, which is not a bad thing as I'll be able to get into it watching 3 episodes back to back...

Me either, but it was definitely fucked up. I described it to Karen as "loud, graphic, and slightly disturbing.... with zero interest in viewing additional episodes. Not entertaining, in my view.... just trying way too hard for shock value as a stand-alone entity with no real purpose.

Anyone watching The Path on Hulu? I had semi-high hopes as I'm a sucker for all things cults and I like both Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan. I'm 3 episodes in and I could see it going either way at this point honestly. Aaron Paul not as good as he was on BB, but that would be hard to do. The characters don't yet have a ton of depth, so I'm hoping they're just leading us gradually into the full backstory.

It's one of the more promising and interesting shows airing, though, so if you're interested at all I'd check it out.

I'll wait for the whole season to run so I can binge them.

@Chicken Rob this series finished last week and it finished very strongly imo. There are a couple of meh episodes, but I really like where it's going. I'd say more, but I don't want to spoil.

If anyone hasn't bothered yet, it's worth a watch. If anyone is thinking of signing up for Hulu, this and 11.22.63 are worth it alone even if you cancel right after you finish both.
