Poker Chip Shipping Tips and Tricks (7 Viewers)

I also use and support PirateShip. This may be common knowledge, but I learned from their site that the USPS has a cubic size box (I think it's 1096L) that fits two racks in warneke boxes for less than $10 in CONUS. Also, late last year, they introduced discounted UPS shipping with sizable discounts.

1096L are excellent. I usually throw one of them in a PFRE and it’s about $8.45 CONUS for 200+ chips

I just used the ShipStation stuff for the first time....I've always been able to ship a small 8x10 padded envelope with tracking for roughly 3-4 bucks depending on weight through first class shipping. How do I find that on there? I used the first class stuff but it had no option for tracking, but it was half the price, I'm worried that what I'm shipping will show up with postage due. I input the weight and dimensions the thickness can't be more than 0.75 inches and it all falls in those categories I'm just worried.

Do you have a screenshot of the selections it gives you? Should include the normal first class package as an option

Ok it looks like under delivery confirmation I have to select "delivery" I thought that was for signature, and I guess I have to use custom package otherwise it defaults to media mail. Its under 0.75 inches thickness but I'm confused by the whole thing lol.

I think I was able to figure it out, just has more info I have to input than before and the whole "delivery confirmation" drop down menu had me confused, it had signature delivery under there and I assumed that wasn't what I needed but it is, you just select "delivery" under that drop down menu. I like to stick with what I've found to work and tracking is a must have on packages for me. I don't like change!

I shipped a 6x9 padded last week with Shipstation. I think I ended up choosing the over .75 option, even though it was a little under. There I found the same prices as before with PP shipping. About $3.50 for a 4 ounce padded envelope.

Edit: With tracking. no signature.

I'm sure I'll get used to it. The PayPal shipping was just so easy. I don't like having to input my package size....people are sensitive about the size of their package...

Is there anyone shipped to china before? Could that be a problem for Chinese custom for casino chips?

This is mainly for CONUS shipping. One thing you might consider if you don’t already have one is a post office box to ship chips to. If you frequently receive chips and you have home delivery you are probably always worrying about your boxes or packages being stolen or making special precautions on delivery days.
With a PO Box they hold your package and put a slip in your box. Then you go get it from the counter.
  1. Do you have to stand in a line? Maybe
  2. Does anyone ever steal your packages off your porch again? No
  3. Can they claim they delivered it but you never saw it? No
  4. Can you wait until it’s convenient for you, whatever day or business hour it might be and then go collect your package? Yes
  5. Will they hold your packages and mail for weeks until you go get them all at once? Yes
  6. Can they occasionally give your package to the wrong person? Yes, this happened once, but it really did not. They thought someone that had picked up some large packages by the back door had taken a package of mine by mistake. But they were wrong, we found them all.

Where I live there is no home delivery so we have to go to the PO to get any mail or packages. I love it. It’s one of the most secure systems around, once the package is in their system it doesn’t get out except in my hands unless something extreme happens.

Just something to consider if you buy and sell a lot and don’t have a secure area to hold your packages for you until delivery.

At the risk of having to use Google (yep, I'm having a lazy day), what is the cost of a PO box that is big enough to hold an MFRB?

You don’t do that. They have lockers that they can put a key in you P.O. Box for you to get larger packages. Sometimes it’s a yellow slip that I go to the cage with to get my packages, sometimes it’s a key that I use to go get my stuff out of a locker.

Because they don’t offer home delivery here I get a box for free, just have to fill out a form they put in my box once a year.

I don't quite live far enough out for that. I do have a very watchful neighbor and in a rural enough area that if a porch pirate ever did happen by, I'd say there would be a roughly 98% chance that there would be a corpse on my lawn when a got home.

2% chance the the corpse would have made it back to the driveway.

He's a very good shot.

What selection did you use for the padded envelope? I only saw an option for padded envelope under the flat rate shipping which costs much more. I also did not see any option for tracking just "delivery confirmation" so is that Shipstation's option for a tracking number? Thanks for any guidance you can provide. It seems like they make this confusing on purpose.

What happened to the PayPal bulk shipping option? I used to go there to get a discount when USPS Priority Mail. Seems to have been discontinued. Any other options to get a discount?

Anyone know the cheapest way to send a single chip to Canada? The postal worker here has lost her mind and said it would be $15 to ship a small bubble mailer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Based on the exchange rate, a Canadian task rabbit?

You should be able to send up to 2oz in a regular size envelope* for $1.30 using USPS First Class Mail International letter service. Try to fold a sheet of paper or two around the chip so it doesn't obviously bulge out in in the envelope. That'll make it less likely to be rejected.

*241.212 Dimensions

Letter-size mail must be rectangular and must meet the following dimensions:

  1. Not less than 5-1/2 inches long or 3-1/2 inches high or 0.007-inch thick.
  2. Not more than 11-1/2 inches long or 6-1/8 inches high or 1/4-inch thick.
