Poker Chip Shipping Tips and Tricks (3 Viewers)

I think it cost me under $10 to send this box

I over pad my chips when sending too.
I’ve never sent a single rack of chips SFRB.
They always go regional rate A. With lots of padding

Thanks for update.

might be a good thing,

Someone check my math....

Regional rate A boxes were 0.21 cubic feet

based on the new chart could be anywhere fro $8.50 to $$16.02 zones 1-7 zones above that and anything heavier than 20lbs might as well go MFRB

The notice did say it was cheaper for cubic. I just like the sizing on that regional rate box. You can use your own boxes too for cubic shipping. The USPS cubic boxes are funky. The regional box was perfect for those smaller shipments.

No judgements at all (seriously) but I can't bring myself to order that, or the military box that comes with the roll of priority mail tape...

But when you've brought your 15th box of cremated remains to your local post office, would they not sort of look at you funny? Or maybe call the FBI?

I don't plan on ordering anymore and they do limit you to 1 per order. I was ordering padded flat rate envelopes and decided to checkout their "heavy duty" box. I wish all their boxes were heavy duty like that.

What is this military box? I sometimes ship stuff to APOs. Is it for that or something else?

The Military kit just includes regular USPS labels, customs forms envelopes, packing tape, and six boxes. I think some of the boxes have some sort of military/America message on them, but other than that it's just a bunch of USPS stuff.

I ordered the cremated remains box last year, to use for my Halloween party, which was morgue themed. The heavy duty cardboard is great.

I’m about to put up a 780-chip HSI set on sale but before I do, I’d appreciate some assistance and guidance with how to package the set for shipping. I have some previously used MFRBs that I tested to see how they fit (I’m obviously going to get a brand new box from USPS). I put some packing paper on the bottom and am able to fit 8 boxes in there but it doesn’t leave me room to put padding on the top of the package. I feel like the LFRB might be too big for the set. Should I look for another box somewhere else to ship? A PM or a reply here would be a lot help. Thanks everyone.

FWIW - here’s a sample pic of what I’m getting ready to post

I shipped an 800 chip set recently, in eight 100-chip boxes. I used 1 LFRB, but was considering splitting them into two mediums. I would never try to stuff 800 chips into 1 medium box.

If the box is reinforced (or if you double box it), a MFRB can definitely fit 800 chips no problem securely. 6 warneke boxes fit nearly perfectly on their sides across a MFRB, with enough room in between to bubble-wrap each box:

(I reused strips of PFRE in between the boxes.)

There's enough room to fit a couple more boxes, well padded, across the top of the 6 warneke boxes. I've shipped over 700 chips in one with no problems.

BTW, I saw someone "reinforce" a MFRB by putting two SFRBs inside. Like the half doen warneke boxes, two SFRBs fit perfectly across the bottom of the MFRB.

LFRB, definitely. And double box it...take one box, tape the bottom and lightly crush the corners. Slide THAT into another LFRB with the bottom taped. It's tight, but it works.
I like the idea of taking all the Warneke-style boxes and pushing them together, and wrap tightly with plastic wrap, then tape together in one big brick. Put the brick in the LFRB, surrounded by padding (crumpled paper, peanuts, etc).

But I am a packing freak. No one will ever be able to accuse me of under-packing! :ROFLMAO:

That’s 100% exactly what I did.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback. Did you throw in a lot of filler so that the chips wouldn’t move around in the box?

How on earth do you get the outer box to shut completely?

I split the inner box on the seam - it’s easier to insert that way, and a bit easier to make it smaller, so you can close the outer box around it. Then it’s all about lots of pressure and lots of good tape.
And yeah, my main goal for any kind of chip packaging is enough padding/materials to keep the contents from moving at all.

I haven’t even sold these yet but I can see where the OCD comes w packing! I’m semi impressed as to how I’m doing this…and it’s probably no where near how you other folks do it! I ended up getting the box to fit (finally) and I’ve taped AND shrink wrapped the warneke boxes so that you can barely hear the chips moving around. It’ll be fun to figure out how I’m gonna pack these boxes in and not have them move around

The inner box does sit a bit tall, making the outer box have trouble closing completely.
One solution is to run a score line with your knife or box cutter about 1/2” below the top crease of the inner box:

It will allow the box to fold so that it isnt as tall, and the outer box will close tighter.

You're basically making a new fold line for the top flaps of that inner box.

Hey everyone, I hit the jackpot and got my hands on 75 dealer buttons from @Jeevansluck. As much as I would like to keep all of them, I don't need that many, so I'm planning to sell some.. But, before I toss 'em up on the classifieds, I need some tips on shipping. Can anyone point me in the direction of a shipping 101 guide for sending out 1-5 buttons per package? Much appreciated!

I've sent a bunch...I wrap each one in a small amount of bubble wrap (the thin kind) or paper, and place in a small padded envelope. Anything under 16oz, ship first class. Use something like Pirate Ship or Shipstation to print first class labels, as you'll save quite a bit from buying postage at the post office.

Use stamps for cheap chips.

I got 500 non machinable stamps on eBay for half price and use the heck out of them.

Flat envelope.
Chip in a Mylar flip.
Taped to a piece of thin cardboard like cereal box.
Taped inside to the envelope.
I use 4x6 address labels to print the address to ensure best delivery success over hand written.
Also fold a small part at the bottom over to add extra reinforcement to the envelop and run a piece of tape across the middle to ensure it’s stays closed and add strength to keep from tearing open.
I have a non machinable ink stamp to stamp the envelopes on both side.

With a flat rate non machinable stamp and a second ounce stamp you can send 3 chips just under 2oz I think.

I’ve also sent to Canada for just a little more postage and all sent fine.
This was just barely 2oz and 3 chips.

For eBay use the standard eBay envelope hack.
1.05 for up to 3oz
Also if the PO scans it properly it’s tracked at delivery.
