Here's another excuse to pull out the pretty chips. We play Sequence using significantly upgraded chips and a board I created to fit our larger chips.

Here are the rules: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequence_(game)

And my board PDF file is attached. Enjoy!

I made a custom board for this game using old decks of casino cards.
We use green and black Paulson starbursts as our chips and 2 decks of cancelled Vegas cards to play with !!!

oMG I love your setup. My wife and I LOVE sequence. Such a great game but the board, chips and cards the game comes with are all total shit. It is literally a perfect game for a PCF upgrade.

This thread is one I have considered starting since I joined but I wasn’t ready until my wife could upgrade the board to accommodate full size chips.

I am now inspired to upgrade my set ASAP.

Also, one of my favorite life beats ever applied was in a sequence game when I told my wife’s best friend I was going to defeat her with a “Flying V” and then Proceeded to do so.

Also, why haven’t we started an LCR thread yet? I’m going to work on that one.....

No skill required, no decisions to be made - is it even a game?

Of course, it's a game of skill! If you don't think skill is involved you are obviously not good at throwing dots. You're probably the kind of player that tosses three Cs. In my game that would earn you a shot of warm tequila.

In all seriousness, i think of LCR as a slow-rolled, group flip. Great way to gamble as a group with people and get to use chips at the same time. Same atmosphere as a craps table, especially when the game gets close to ending.

I wouldn’t let my LCR friends near my chips!

I wish I could like this more than once. I can't believe people play this "game" for money. Just pull a name out of a hat and give them the money, and then play an actual game that is fun.

I havent heard of this game either but have been getting more into non screened based games.

How many players is this typically played with?

I'd say 2-3. But the wiki page says up to 12??? (edit: ah.. I see, they just put more than 3 into 'teams')

How many chips are needed per player?
There are a total of 100 squares on the board. So 50 each for two players, 34 each for 3 players. Per the wiki, the official games comes with: 135 poker chips (50 blue, 50 green, 35 red)

You can see in the OP pic that we also have another 10 (pink) chips to 'lock in' the sequences.

Team games are really fun. We sometimes play with other couples and have guys against girls. The key is being able to sense whether or not your team mates have certain cards. It's cheating to actually say what cards you have, so you have to use extrasensory skills, similar to eying up a bluffer in poker.

For Christmas my wife had a carpenter make this substantial board including perfectly sized slots for starbursts. My wife hand painted the cards it really turned out amazing. I was blown away and can’t wait to play it this weekend!

Only ever heard of this game from time to time, seems like abit of fun reading the wiki for it, nice one pal.

Apologies for the thread necromancy, but this looked like the only thread on sequence, so I thought it was my best chance at finding an answer.

Does the layout of the board matter? I see lots of homemade boards, but I can’t find anything out on the internet to confirm whether it’s random or set. I ask because I wonder why a board is needed at all— could I just take the jacks out of two decks, deal them into a grid, and go? New, random layout every game?

id imagine a random board would be much more tedious to play on just for locating the options to place a chip. Some system is helpful in that regard

No it's a pattern and if suggest memorizing it if you want to take your game to the next level!
