It counts as a live stack - if your game is full of fish!…does this count?

It was 25c/1/5/10/$25. The host definitely didn't have enough $5s for 18 cash player or whatever we had.
It wasn't a PCF host..This is PCF, can you ever haveto manyenough 5s ?
Except they are not.
Definitely not plastic. They’re China Clays. Need oiling to get rid of some manufacturing residue and make them shine.
So you mean just like Paulson's?If you think China Clays aren't plastic,
While Majestics maybe in that category that we call "China Clays," they are nonetheless still injection molded plastic chips.Except they are not.
I freely admit to not being a chemist. If you think China Clays aren't plastic, I have a bridge in New York for sale and some prime real estate in Florida...
Yeah, but they're not composite clay chips. They do not have the same type of porosity to absorb and benefit from oiling in the same way.I freely admit to not being a chemist.
Nevertheless, they’re not plastic chips like you find in the dollar store. They’re come with a residue and oiling them helps to make them shine.
Also… who ever buys a bridge for sale? Even a sucker would have to think “What value to I get from owning this?”
Not the same, but they do benefit from some oil. That oil can be achieved via oiling or through sessions of play. If you want them looking sharp the first night of play, oiling helps the darker colored chips.Yeah, but they're not composite clay chips. An oil bath (or even a water rinse) will also keep factory dust off your felt.
Exactly.
And the Majestics in particular come with a ton of dust on them out of the box.
This is my third rodeo doing this. I expanded my current set and could literally see the difference side by side from my previous oiled chips vs. this new batch.
The oiling makes a big difference. And while handling may have the same effect, I play once a month. This is a great boost.
They work for me. My players and I love them. You'd think you'd learn after buying junk the first two times and buy some good chips.
Call them whatever you want, they are cheap plastic crap from China.
Is it a slightly better piece of crap than the others? Sure, but that's like putting sparkles on dog shit. It's still dog shit.
That's a little extreme. No, actually it's a lot extreme. And unnecessary. This isn't the "Things that are BS thread." There is absolutely no reason to trash someone else's chip photos in this thread. It also isn't a Clay Chips Matter thread, it's an All Chips Matter thread. You'd think you'd learn after buying junk the first two times and buy some good chips.

It's not true.No, it’s a live stacks thread.
Not post a pic of chips in a pot of oil and water thread, and that’s where it started.
I questioned what they were doing, they claimed it helped make the plastic look better, I replied sarcastically, they defended their poor choices, and here we are.
This whole BS about China clays not being plastic crap goes back to the CT days and the knock off pharaohs that Ten tried to sell as “real” chips.
China clays are a slightly better version of the cheap crap, but that doesn’t make them good.
Cheap? Yes. A good option for people with a small budget? Yes. Totally capable of doing the job? Anywhere near a “real” chip? Nope.
Continuing the charade that they are anywhere near what a good chip is, is just misinformation and bullshit.
Sorry if I hurt anyone’s feelings but tell me it’s not true.
You strike me as the type of person who complains that Taco Bell isn’t “authentic Mexican food…”No, it’s a live stacks thread.

Amen!It's not true.
Poker is about the game. The players. Family, friends, and maybe some enemies. The competition and the battles. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. The strategy of the game play. Running a bluff through your poker buddies and then showing it to them. None of these things are impacted one tiny bit by which chips you are using. If the chips allow you to properly keep track of the wins and losses, then they serve their purpose.
Is it cool to have "nice" poker chips? Sure. But my chips are for me. No one else. And your chips are for you. Unless your players are also a chippers, then nobody cares if your chips cost 25 cents apiece, or $25. I own nice chips because I want to own them. They don't make the game itself one tiny bit better. I have players in my games that wouldn't even notice if one week I subbed out my Paulson chips for some dice chips. There are plenty of decent inexpensive plastic and china clay chips that are absolutely "real" poker chips.
In fact, I'd rather play poker with a nice set of plastic sluggos than a bunch of nasty, bike tires covered in hooker juice, RHC chips that a lot of casinos have on their tables. Yuk! Some of those things are truly disgusting.

Last response to this, but you took an obvious joke (yea… no duh… it wasn’t a “live stack”) and turned it into some tirade about chip quality - which no one was talking about (I never once made any comment on the “quality” of these chips”).
No hurt feelings here. I find it curiously amusing actually. Did you have a dog who choked to death on a China clay or something?
Lighten up, friend. You’ll live longer (and enjoy poker more!!!)
Amen!
One of my favorite games is in Indianapolis at the American Legion.
Busiest poker room in the state. 80-100 person tournaments.
And they use ***gasp*** DICE CHIPS!!!
Hey I know I just won that all in a couple hands ago, but I just found $45 more in my cupholder. Can you pay up?
It was a free table, so I'll take the tradeoff of cupholders on the playing surface. But ya, I'd prefer them on the rails for sure.Hey I know I just won that all in a couple hands ago, but I just found $45 more in my cupholder. Can you pay up?
