Teddy KGB chips from TR King (3 Viewers)

Let's see some bids on these beauties! Where are your multiple offer people? Maybe you need to post a cash set for sale, to see the bidders come out.
Let the fun begin!!

Yeah, even though im out, i would still like to see the bidding action on the cash set.

I'm in the camp that the value of these chips lies in the minty TRK. The Rounders inlay brings the value down as a knock-off, and I would much rather have minty Mapes or Riversides - real (though now defunct) casinos.

The same reason I didn't get in on the Rounders Scroll mold or the Rounders Cir/Squ. - they're not really the same. Now if CPC ran some on the original movie mold, I'd consider it, but that mold is now retired. At the same time, I couldn't possibly pay a premium for "actual movie chips". Perhaps a dedicated movie buff collector, but not me. I just want to play with the chips.

Agree with this. Kind of glad to not be tempted honestly, but yeah if they had another design I would have likely already PMed.

...now if you popped those inlays out so I could relabel them...

As much as I would wish for different inlays...popping out these...just no...

Even if the mold was available, I could not see CPC producing more with the same exact inlay. It would cause confusion with the originals. Probably have to slightly alter the inlay a bit. (make them say commemorative) Didn't they make commemorative sets before the mold was retired?

But I have art - like my avatar - It needs to be on moar chips!

Squirrel avatar currently reserved for a pink-chip game set, because the squirrel is clearly indicating "2", but it may also wind up on a T100,000 because squirrels like to hoard. And TRKs with my faux hotstamp mentioned in a different thread would be awesome.

There were several tribute versions on the Roman mold, but as you note, they were each required to change an element of the design (color of bear, denom font, denom color, etc.) to differentiate them from the originals.

I don't think Zombie was proposing it as a likely or reasonable possibility, just saying that it would be the only way he'd personally be interested in the chips. I feel similarly, though I've often contemplated getting a tribute version of my own made with a basset hound instead of a bear.

I believe they did. The denomination was a slightly different color (Black vs Red IIRC)

Lol i bought them just for theTeddy Tribute, this russian made me play poker !
SO i understand that after all my chips sucks lol perhaps i'd better destroy them finally

Anyway i went to think that really between $3 and $3.5 is a good base.

The question is the breakdown
I've been turning it all day in my head and i think it's nice excepted i ask myself if the Cash set#2 is not oversized and if it would not be better split in 2.

I really thank you very very much bentax.
I will keep your breakdown and if the cash set #2 doesn't sell i will rethink it.

So the breakdown is:

cash set #1 (1000 chips, bank of just over $4,000)

100 x $0.25
600 x $1
200 x $5
100 x $25

cash set #2 (1400 chips, bank of just under $20,000)

400 x $1
650 x $5
250 x $25
100 x $100

[3] small tournament sets* (350 chips each, bank of just over T100,000)

120 x $25
100 x $100
80 x $500
50 x $1000

*starting stacks for a T5000 tournament could be something like 12/7/8 with the extra T100 and T1000 used for color-ups and rebuys, respectively.

Remain a few stacks of chips in the cartons.

You're welcome, and good luck with the sale! I wish I was in a position to buy one, I'd snap cash set #2 if I could.

One small note, looking at the totals, I think there might be 10 too many $25 chips and 10 too few $500 chips in the total count when you add up all 5 sets. The easiest way to fix that, if you don't have any extra $25 chips, would be to just tweak cash set #2 to the following. Might even be a better breakdown anyway as set #2 would now have almost 20% more bank and is better suited to a deeper 2/5 game.

cash set #2 (1400 chips, bank of just under $25,000)

400 x $1
650 x $5
240 x $25
100 x $100
10 x $500

In fact i kept a few 10s spare chips so i can do any of you breakdown.
you just have to tell me which set is better.

Which breakdown is "better" (ie preferred) is likely to depend on the buyer.

i have left after your last breakdown:

14 25cts
10 $5
20 $25
10 $500
10 $1000

i can put them in the breakdown or keep them as spare, it is equal for me

I was involved in a group buy on the Roman mold. The inlay was with a brown bear and brown denom. Everything else was the same as the Rounders movie chips!!

I would probably offer the buyers of each set a few spares, and then keep a few for yourself. As you mentioned before, chips like these have a way of occasionally "disappearing".

so what if i keep the third stt set to be able to accomodate the buyers if they want to customize a little and sell the remaining by stacks

That sounds reasonable. Obviously these are your chips and you are free to sell them however you want, and to who ever you want.

My breakdowns, especially with regards to the cash sets, was just a suggestion that I thought would make the best use of the chips into really nice, playable cash sets (with enough leftover to make a few STT sets).

i thank you for that

Personally, I always loved the simplicity of the rounders inlay. Having said that, I agree with the thought that these are seen more as mint TRKs than mint Rounders. I would also bet that if these minty, never used chips got in a fight with minty, never used TRK Mapes, the Mapes would mop the floor with them on historical value alone. The spots are better on the Mapes, so you may not be able to compare the two accurately, but I wonder if they would even fetch $5 a chip. In my opinion, their value as Rounders chips would be more if they were on the roman mold.

I'm not trying to say the poster is asking too much, I'm wondering the same thing he stated earlier. What is the real value of these chips? My car salesman father in-law would say that they're worth whatever someone will pay, and I suspect that he's right. Today, with this crowd, it may be that they're worth $3 per chip. Next month, with different eyes having seen them, they may be worth much more, or much less. I doubt they would be worth much less, but you never know what may come out to saturate the market and empty the wallets of buyers.

Not that it matters to me, I'm out of this race anyway no matter how much I would want them.

FYP. :whistling:

^^ Goph, if you want to sell me some mint TRK Riversides at $3per, let's talk!! :)

I think you can still find Mapes $5s at that price, but that's the only denom available at $3, I'd guess. But yes, put Mapes (or Riversides) minty TRK vs. Rounders in front of me, and I'm taking the casino chips...all day long.

(I'd take Rounders over the scary Jessie Beck chips though...those freak me out).

I doubt you will find $5 Mapes at that even the $3 mark any longer. For the longest time they were $2 each from Spinettis but jumped to $3 per once the ran low. Now they are sold out and most owners are not selling /thread Jack

LOL...Who is Jesse Beck anyways and who is that scary grandma on the chip?

Hey now, let's not get carried away. My set isn't for sale at any price!

As for Grandma Beck, well, those chips do have two sides...just lay Ole Jessie over face down. Her colors sure are purty, tho'.
