space ... need plenty of space for displaying
I bought a LEGO Villa Savoye (Le Corbusier) set some years ago, played with it a bit, then forgot about it.
Recently though I pulled it back out because I am planning on building a small but ambitious house on my property. Using it to test out ideas in miniature.
It’s actually fascinating, and may even redeem the thousands of hours I wasted playing with oldschool Legos as a kid in the 1970s, before they started making a million custom parts...
To really make it useful for my project I realized I needed more pieces. I’m focused on just using white and clear pieces to experiment with the form and not get distracted by color. So I ordered another Savoye set, plus a used Farsnworth House set, and the big White House set. In a week or so I should have enough to really explore larger designs.
I’ve done computer mockups before for building projects (not an architect... but I sometimes boss them around). With the process of physically building things with these LEGO pieces engages much more of the brain, I find. And since I’m not hosting poker games until we are well past COVID, I have plenty of table space to spread out LEGOs...

Thanks... My main challenge is building the terrain on which the house will sit, which includes some slopes. I was going to do it with green chips, but decided to stay all white for now. With the sets I just bought (used on eBay to avoid the high mint prices) I should be set... for a while at least

I forgot about this thread til I got the notifications today. We’re in Disney and they have an awesome Lego store. A couple purchases so far, and a few statue pics outside. We’re heading back tonight or tomorrow, I’ll get some more pics
Yep - considering that I live only about 45 minutes away, I've been in that story many, many times (and spent way too much money there).
After you finish building this set, make sure you give the app a try. It's a fun "ghostbusting" type game with an AR component and no in-game purchases that I saw, and I bet your son will have a great time with it.
Make sure you put the set on a plain surface when you start up the app. It has a hard time finding your build if it's on a patterned surface (found that out the hard way).
I've got an absolutely huge amount of Lego for sale. I can't count how many bricks. I don't know the entire weight, though I estimate about 60-80 pounds. They are sorted into batches by shape and function. They represent a collection that has been accumulated over decades. I can guarantee that the contents can build all the following sets because I have all the original instruction booklets. And that only represents maybe half of the bricks available.

Like a third of the boxes we've had to buy in the month of temp TX housing. Keeps them busy, I don't think it's a fad for them anymore.
This is right now. It's nice to be at a point where we can do it together, but he can also just work solo.
I keep trying to convince my wife what a deal this is. She thinks it's crazy to spend that on Legos, but every time they go to target they come home with $60+ in Legos

Lol I've been selling to help with new house costs and to help out some people/places we like. Color had a tad surprised at what we had in chipsTell her it's a lot less than you spend on chips!
There's at least two sets coming that can be put right back up. If these are still here, I'm dog earing those sales for this finally!

I have never seen this before but I love the concept.It's not lego, but has anyone ever tested dat?
I hesitate to order.
My kids have NYC (11 and 8 yrs old). It's damn hard.
The 2D puzzle is probably a little harder than the 3D, but the 3D is very tedious.
I bet the LV Strip is already obsolete
I bought that one a few months ago, built it, then the damn cat knocked it on the floor. I haven't had the gumption to put it back together yet.
Ya gotta love those cats! Feed them, shelter them, and they still just DGAF.
Second try... I doubled the scale (halved the size) which means simpler but quicker builds. Having a lot of fun with this.
We're a huge Lego family, my youngest son has likely attained master builder status at this point. 
My dad recently retired and is cleaning up his house, he dropped off a bunch of unfinished sets at the beginning of the summer, kept the kids partially entertained during quarantine.

While sets are fun we do a lot of free builds, especially towards the holidays when we populate our train table with Lego villages. My wife and I are OCD organization freaks, the huge bins of mixed Legos needed an upgrade:

Forgot to post, he built it within like 30 minutes of getting home, lol. Yeah, the App that goes with it is really cool, a nice little extra bit of play out of the set! The port a potty changed into a monster that shoots poop, and the mini figs are really cool! This line is definitely up there for the non licensed stuff. It seems like they mainly come with the same two main characters Which kind of stinks, but the other figs that change into ghosts are awesome

The $800 Falcon set on display. Even with the mini figs there for scale, pictures just don’t do this justice for how HUGE it is!
