The LEGO Thread (5 Viewers)

The $800 Falcon set on display. Even with the mini figs there for scale, pictures just don’t do this justice for how HUGE it is!
I’d love to just build it, has anyone set up a ‘rental’ for these big sets yet lol? Like for $100 you get to build it and not keep the set??

Shipping would make this idea cost prohibitive especially for sets of this size.

Update: Here’s my hybrid visualization of a house design, using LEGO architecture pieces as the main basis, then brought into Pixelmator to refine some detail and to stuff less possible with the blocks...

The design as it is evolving is largely driven by the building site — the top of a hill with expansive views. I also want as much outdoor space as possible, but off the ground, since Lyme ticks are a major issue here...

Does anyone have any recommendations for sorting pieces while working? Larger stuff I just interlock in stacks, but all the small pieces are a chore to hunt for.

I was thinking maybe one of those handyman’s carrying boxes with trays for screws/nails.

With Christmas coming there will be more Lego put together once again. It seems like this is mostly a Christmas tradition these days, not much time during the year. Hoping to get some pictures up as well, and looking to more from all of you.

Ben purchased the ginger bread house and one other set for holiday assembly this year

Wife and I got into Legos in 2020 due to covid. Since then, we completed the entire Architecture series

We've recently got into the Creator Expert Series, including the newest release, Colosseum, which is the largest stock Lego set of all time (9000+ pieces).

About to start the Taj Mahal tonight.

Wow! Dan this is awesome why didnt we get to see these last time we were at the house* dude?!?!!!

How did I miss this thread? The boys and I are into LEGO bigtime. Long ago I wrote a couple grants to get my students involved in FLL Robotics and we just kept going. I’ll post some pics tomorrow. The mountain of spare parts is immense, several hundred pounds and my oldest has a nice city built in his room We need another house to build everything.

I still have a huge selection of Lego (some detailed in post #72 this thread, previous page) for sale, $1500 plus shipping. Right of first refusal goes to @BarrieJ3 , but I haven't heard from him since his resettlement Stateside. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. It will probably require 3-4 large boxes weighing 15-20 pounds each. Purchasers willing to pick up from my home town have the option of getting the labelled and racked storage system I have for them for free.

I would buy it all if I had some extra cash, but just don’t have any right now. I’ve been fortunate to pick up some work after my 18.5 years with one company ended. Maybe I’ll eventually sell enough other crap that I’ll be able to take this off your hands.

Feel free to keep me updated with your timeline. Otherwise, it's still up for grabs.

The house is a wreck as we are trying to move our sea shipment in from Saudi. This is just a part of it. We are discussing what to do and either nixing the train or something to save space

Obviously the Cafe Corner and Green Grocer are taking up usable space. PM inbound with the prepaid shipping labels. That was easy, problem solved. You can also throw the train in if extra space is still needed.

Let me bump this one a bit!!

So the majority of my collection is late 80s early 90s space themed legos... why? I grew up dirt poor and I had one set of Ice Planet 2002... I played with, built my own customs for hours! Eventually i moved out and my worn out set was lost... my teen years came and the love for legos went away. Once I got a good paying job I rekindled my childhood dreams. I bought every single set I ever dreamed about! Lol

I do build from scratch without instructions but my favorite thing to do is accessorize sets... beef them up and prepare them for war! An example is this one!

Original on the right... a ben special on the left! Lol

This one is a total custom build

Here is the space collection for the most part
Ice Planet 2002

Space Police series 2
20201219_134356.jpg

Space police series 1... very expensive on some of these
20201219_134410.jpg

Another one I took upon myself to customize
20201219_134405.jpg

M-Tron and my pathetic Blactron Series 1 collection
20201219_134431.jpg

Another favorite... Blacktron Series 2
20201219_134513.jpg

Ok so not enough space in there with gun cases, gun racks and piles of ammo... so the rest hides in the basement bathroom cubby! Lol
20201219_134714.jpg

Most are aware most of Legos value is in mini figs... I have been working on all of the space characters over the years... some old Robin Hood digs. And odds n ends.

Considered one of the most rare and valued space sets is the Unitron Monorail set... I own it, never put together because this takes up some space!!
20201219_134755.jpg

The other obsession is the Christmas series which we own all of them and they are simply everywhere!
20201129_162531.jpg

The winter Cottage was the inspiration for Santas house... which hope fully I finish someday!
20201129_161759.jpg

And the village Christmas Florist Shop... totally custom and also not finished but much closer
20201129_161915.jpg

Very proud of my custom delivery truck!! The hours it takes to build a custom is insane!!
20201129_161907.jpg

Just another grown kid with a childhood obsession. Hope you guys enjoy!!
