The Walking Dead (3 Viewers)

Another fake out death at the end? I so wish my wife would be done with this show. At least there is only one more episode left.

Wasn't a fake out death, no one thinks Daryl is dead... it wasn't even implied.
Where they will once again, leave us with a cliffhanger on who will meet Lucille
I say Lucille will sing next week and my guess is they will stay true to to comics on who she meets.

I think their implying he is dead. I mean. I hope he is :). However, im sure your right. If it's not a bad attempt at a fake out death then I'm curious why they ended it like that?

Ended it like that for shock value that he was shot. Gun was clearly aimed at his shoulder and you hear the guy say he will be okay.

Side bet?
I considered that (actually wrote it and erased it) but then I remembered you accurately scoured the spoilers websites at some point with this show in the past... figured it was -EV on my end ;)

Bye bye pizza delivery guy. Here's a tip: never put your gun down.
I wasn't ready to see him go due to dipshit shooting himself and dragging him off the dumpster. I am ready now for a proper send off. And I am clinging to hope that a heartbroken Maggie and a heartbroken Rosita find comfort in each other on screen :D

fwiw I don't have any spoiler info telling me who will get the bat, but if I had to put money on it, here's how I'd rank from most likely to least likely who bites it based on who most people are talking about:

1. Maggie

She's pregnant and I think a lot of people would find Negan taking out her and the unborn child to be the most shocking, so there's max impact with this death, while still retaining fan-favorite Daryl

2. Abraham

He's just starting to develop a new relationship that is helping to bring Sasha back from the brink of her despair. Could be a way to keep from having to kill off the bigger names on the show while killing a name that's "just big enough" to have an impact, and can also tie in with Sasha spiraling back out of control

3. Carol

She's starting to unravel with the group and the killing and still carries impact because she's liked fairly well.

4. Daryl

I think he's too big a favorite for them to lose him, he draws in a LOT of viewers who like his character. Yeah it'd have crazy shock value to have him go, but I think they'd be shooting themselves in the foot to do so

5. Glenn

I guess it would please the comic readers because it remains true, and it would certainly catch viewers off-guard somewhat because he's already had a couple of almost-deaths, so people just assume he won't bite it.

I'm so tired of all the people splitting up, making illogical decisions, numb dialogue, and show writers trolling/filling episodes until Negan and Lucille show up. I bet we don't see Negan until the very last few minutes of the season finale.

Anyone else waiting for Rick to shoot Morgan in the face when he owned up to the wolves thing?

I want to see them all torn apart by zombies, it's the reason I watch

Only thing that is pissing me off is how the hell does your BEST tracker (Daryl), who is out LOOKING for the Saviours, let himself get caught like that. I mean, he would have to have seen signs of a group moving through the woods with prisoners BEFORE coming across them, right? So, that would dictate that he would be on guard for scouts, patrols, etc., right? I am all for suspension of disbelief, but the writers are REALLY testing that limit these days.

Hi All, first time posting here. As a comic book reader of The Walking Dead as well as a huge fan of the show (and spoilers), I'll share some thoughts:

1.) Daryl is not dead. Dwight shot him in the shoulder. This was confirmed on the Talking Dead, and Dwight even said "you'll be fine". The show couldn't even risk having everyone think he was dead.

2.) As for Lucille...

Sorry to say, but it ends on a cliffhanger. As Negan is doing his eeny meenie miny moe thing, the camera switches to first person. Negan hits the person/camera, the camera gets blurry, and eventually goes to black. End credits. End finale. See you in October. Lol.

3.) As far as who gets Lucilled, my original thought was Carol or Morgan, but they will not be in the lineup. Glenn is the obvious choice because he gets the bat in the comics. Daryl, though a strong possibility early on, is becoming less and less likely. Sadly, Abraham and Aaron are quickly becoming stronger potentials. This would be disappointing though. In the comics, Negan is introduced and immediately beats to death a MAJOR character. Not to say Abraham and Aaron are not important, but they are not one of the originals.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Look forward to chatting further!

It looks like Maggie had a miscarriage. They show a bruise near her stomach when Glen and her were taking a shower. Later in the episode she falls to the floor with severe abdominal pain.

Dwight is moving around pretty damn well for having his dick damn near bit off recently? Daryl's tracking skills go to shit or what? Glad there is only one more episode left.

Hopefully my wife will forget about it next season. I don't plan on reminding her.

TWD is suffering from a severe case of TV show. It has no arc. Without a clear story arc, all they can do is write for a season at a time. Very few TV shows ever are written with a arc, because shows with an arc
  • Have a predetermined end. In the same way that a book is completely written before you read page 1, the story will end at a very specific time - the last page. The author doesn't get to say "Wow, this is going well - I better not kill off Rick, or find a cure just quite yet".
  • Story arcs can be slow. An entire season can be dedicated to building characters, back-stories, and setting the universe. In a book, nobody cares - you keep reading. TV shows have to pull in the viewers. You only have an hour, and if there's no boom, you start losing your audience.
  • Writers, producers, and TV execs have to have faith in an arc. Slow stories will get your plug pulled. Great stories sometimes get lost when another show airs at the same time. If a key development happens at the same time as the NCAA finals, you could lose even more of your audience.
So, yes, the show is pretty repetitive. It is also killing in the ratings. Nobody is going to slaughter the golden goose, no matter how many eggs it lays - as long as the eggs are golden... and they still are. Sure, the intellectual in me would like to see a show where they rebuild civilization. One where zombies exist, but effective defences keep them at bay. Where villainous humans are a threat, but the civilized society begins to outpace the thug gangs the same way the Roman Empire outpaced the barbarian hordes. In time they begin to become self-sustaining, no longer needing to scavenge, but building from within.

The story could then conclude when the group, now a complete society, achieves the pinnacle of man's success...

They begin producing their own custom clay poker chips.

it does have an arc, you just cant see it, just look up the comic books, it follows it decent enough in the timeline and story arc

Have not read the comics. Don't intend to either, at least not until after the show concludes. The show needs to stand on it's own, and on that end, there isn't an arc. Just fight zombies, build relationships, fight people, lose someone. Wash, rinse, repeat. Survive on a farm, lose farm. Survive in a prison, lose prison. Survive going to D.C., lose DC.

If the purpose of the arc is the character development, they do in in a clean-and-jerk method. Carol wants to stop killing. 2 episodes ago, she was the queen of the coup de gras, now she wants to let others live. This is a fine story line, but should be carried out long term, over many episodes, or slowly evolving over seasons, not from one week to the next. Same goes for Eugene's suddenly wanting to be Mr. killer, or Denise wanting to become a scavenger. This isn't change from an arc, it's just change for the sake of tonight's story.

That said, I do really like the show. I like Talking Dead too, but that kind of quirky humor is just my cup of tea. I will continue to watch the shows, because I don't expect a lot from TV. I'm not going to be one that watches every episode just so I can say how much I hate the show. If I wanted to do that, I'd watch Fear TWD. That show was too terrible, and I stopped watching. I hated every character.

For me this season finally *touched* on a MAJOR flaw that the show has had so far. The "bullet factory" that was mentioned then forgotten almost as soon as it was spoken of. Gasoline and bullets would literally be worth more than anything in this world and everyone drives around like it's a regular Sunday! Drives me bananas. Other than that I am REALLY curious to see if they whack Glenn like they do in the books. It's entertaining but at this point I watch just to see where it goes and not with any real excitement. Breaking Bad had me freaking out every week but this show you could almost sit out for a few episodes and then come back and not really miss a whole lot.

I think Darryl is untouchable. He's the one person who might get people to stop watching if he died. Btw, the actor who plays Aaron does some great impressions. If you have a chance check him out on YouTube.
