The Walking Dead (3 Viewers)

well episode 2 of fear the walking dead was pretty underwhelming. i had hoped that they would hit strong after an unimpressive first episode. the writing actually got worse imo.

at least the first season is only 8 episodes...

Pro Tip: DVR this show every week and put it on 25 mins in, can fast fwd through every commercial and end right on time.

good ....... I am DVRing them but we are still getting caught up on the originals. Just made it to the halfway point on season 4. We figured on watching all originals before watching the new show

I haven't decided if I'm giving it a shot or not. I think one zombie show might be enough for me.

finally watched the pilot episode last night of FTWD. I thought it sucked. Boring and slow. Wifey liked it unfortunately. I'll probably watch this season. Honestly, one mediocre zombie series is enough for me.

tj: anyone watch dark matter? the premise intrigues me. I think I'll be giving that a shot soon now that the first season just finished.

Oct 11th can't come soon enough.

I have three more episodes left to watch to be caught up (on ep 14 of season 5) ....watching five seasons in three weeks was a lot of dead

I also have this to play after watching it :)

I could barely stay awake last night trying to get through episode 3 of Fear the Walking Dead. Is anyone liking this thing? It's a pretty boring mess imo.

The think that makes the show frustrating to me as a viewer is that I already know what the deal is with the Zombies. Watching these idiots figure it out what we have learned over 5 years is grating. I think taken in a vacuum it is not terrible.

I like the character of the barbershop owner, and I think Kim Dickens is a good character as well. I hope her boyfriend dies quickly as he is too weak to make it once shit really starts to hit the fan.

Bad as it is, this is still my prime time zombie apocalypse drama of choice on TV at present.

Was there some sort of cover up at play initially, hence the disappearance of all the church zombies in episode 1? Or was that shit writing?

The concept - decent of civilised society into zombageddon - should make for good telly. Can't help but think they've stuffed this up good and proper thus far.

Still, it's got a a way to go before it's as bad as The Strain!

I agree 100% (haven't watched EP 3 yet). The only reason I will is because my wife enjoys the show. How is a zombie show this damn boring?

I want to like the Strain. Its getting worse and worse. I'll finish this season and most likely be done with it. These vampires must be a bunch of pussies. How are they not ruling the world by now.

As a big, big Guillermo Del Toro fan, I was psyched for the novels, but by the end I was struggling through them.

I only made it through three episodes of the show despite also really like Corey Stoll. He's still good in other things, but that wig is something atrocious on the Strain. You do not forsake the bald brotherhood, Corey.

I tried watching an episode of "Dark Matter" last night. A Sci-Fi series. Acting sucked. Neither my son nor I could finish the episode. What I saw seemed promising. I just can't get over bad acting.

It's growing on me. I think Ruben Blades, who plays the barber, will make the show better if he becomes a main character.

Yeah the show acts as if no one has even heard of a zombie or zombie apocalypse which is really frustrating. We've never even had anything close to that in real life but yet we have a lot of "zombie awareness" and prepping for a zombie apocalypse.

The boyfriend is an annoying tool and I hope he gets bite soon lol.

i can get on board with this thought. ruben blades is a fantastic and underused actor.

Yeah my hopes of a zombie walk being overrun by real zombies have been dashed.

A group of hardcore zombie survivalist geeks could've made for some comedy value too. Awash with missed opportunity!

I accept the fact that for a zombie apocalypse show to work, the world must be completely free from all zombie legends or lore. Hence TWD's references to walkers, biters, dead, et al, but never zombies.

That said, the barber and his family are the only likable ones so far. I am suffering through the shows, but the writing is still awful - from riots that burn cars but not this dudes truck, to his "I don't care, but I'll turn around to and carry you" mentality. Either make the character an ass (ala Merle) or a hero - you can't keep flopping back and forth and get me to believe the character is real.

This... not a difficult concept fellas ;)

I'm enjoying the show myself. Even if it was awful the daughter is hot enough to keep me around :D

praying it does not get picked up for a second season, put it out of its misery

Just finished watching the third installment. Tedious stuff. A horror or fantasy outing should never be boring.

Still, plenty of characters I'm looking forward to dying already!

Not sure about anyone else but if I come home and my wife looks like Susan, she is NOT getting a hug.

Well.. I thought he was gone when they were going to let him go with his wife. They forced him to stay behind so we will see.

yeah i've already jumped ship. if it carries on and seems to have improved there's a chance i'll try to catch up at some point, but it's unlikely. TWD proper is enough of a grind for me already...

Last nights episode was better then the others but not fantastic by any means. I kept feeling like everyone that they take away is just getting dumped somewhere and left for dead.

I don't recall offhand what the preview for next week showed but felt it was implied they are using the sick/injured they take away for experimentation purposes.

I can see why action junkies and/or the guys who really want to break things down aren't liking it. I mean the mom cutting the fence and going for a stroll and her "communicating" from that distance with her little flashlight even bug me a bit. But I'm still enjoying it. Lack of action is due to us viewing through the eyes of the family, I have faith the dead are coming.

Really hope the kid breaks out instead of the family breaking in to a military controlled camp to rescue him though... That may be a bit much.

yeah i guess it's more the latter for me. it's not that i need nonstop action, but the plot moved so glacially for the first few episodes that i couldn't really tolerate it. maybe it's a matter of expectations. i don't really understand why you'd start this series if the point isn't to give the backstory of the breakdown. and if that is actually the point of what they're doing, they're taking it waaaaaaay too slow for me.
