This. Cant stand when my players of over a year shout across my garage “$160!!” knowing damn well they are gonna have to walk over, present their chips, and wait for me to count them before getting cashed out. I literally do not care what you “think” you had. I have had nights where people miscounted by $20 over and a night where a player miscounted about $100 under what he had…This I agree with. When running bank, I independently count the chips. Don't tell me what you have, let me tell you, and if it matches with what you think, I pay that amount.
It's the same procedure I see in casinos. I'm sure it's not 100% perfect, but it's good enough for them, it's good enough for my stakes.
Note: I love running tournaments. Cash in, cash out, I'm good with that. I hate running a cash game bank, and limit my cash games to a little under once a year.
