Things That Are Bullsh*t (19 Viewers)

Microsoft. Mondays. Both are bullshit

Christmas lights. All types and sizes. Give them a nice vacation and place to live and those ungrateful bastards still don’t want to report to work when called upon.
First year super organized. They were all put away appropriately, separated into like buckets, labeled, etc.

About 60% of them worked for this year

In hindsight it worked out, I just put out the lights that worked and called it quits. Might just buy some for roof.

I really like that ornament arch. Very cool

Wedding rings

I snagged my wedding ring on the shower door last night and tore off half the skin on my finger. That was a fun night in the ED.
Goddamn. I wear some big rings and de-gloving is a nightmare of mine! Spend too much time on ships with heavy things going up and down, can't wear them when working.

I can't say I've ever thought twice about the shower door though!

I am exaggerating a bit when I say half my finger. Docs did a great job patching me up and the Norco really helped!

Also reminds me of that joke that women can almost experience how painful a cold is for a man with childbirth.

I’m not sure if this belongs in unpopular opinion or bull thread.

If you’re at a home game and the table is closing, just fu**ing wait for the bank to be counted.
Ummmm...

How do you count the bank? Don't you just exchange cash for chips then chips for cash (or Venmo)?

Yeah but if the bank is sitting there cashing multiple people out, don’t grab your cash and sprint away because you want to get to the next table or can’t miss a hand.

In also think it’s helpful to count your cash out and leave the cash on the table until done. “Oh we’re $20 off” - and now everyone’s pulling out their stacks of cash in various pockets trying to re-confirm.

Uh oh I don’t do that usually. Especially if it’s late and I want to get home and sleep! Am I wrong?
Wrong? No. But I figure its 5 or 10 more minutes to make sure the bank is square. By the time I gather up my stuff, grab my coat, and enter my results into my tracking software, the cashout is done.

Truthfully I don’t care if the bank is wrong. That’s on the host anyway or the banker. I’m not gonna pay for someone’s mistake. I would never hold others accountable for my banking.

If I’m playing big game with tipped dedicated dealer and such, sure.

Home game with friends? Naw. Very recently ran into an issue where we had table, chips, everything. Only thing we needed? A banker! No one wanted to bank, despite pretty much all of us planning to be there until the last hand.

A wonderful person said okay okay I’ll do it. I think it’s a needed courtesy to assist them in racking, getting ish picked up, and getting bank rectified.

Let me be clear if I’m banking I’ll take whatever issue/loss upon myself. But I shouldn’t be banker, don’t want to be banker, so I’ll make sure to assist whoever is as a thanks.

I want him to be able to verify he paid me the right amount.
This I agree with. When running bank, I independently count the chips. Don't tell me what you have, let me tell you, and if it matches with what you think, I pay that amount.

It's the same procedure I see in casinos. I'm sure it's not 100% perfect, but it's good enough for them, it's good enough for my stakes.

Note: I love running tournaments. Cash in, cash out, I'm good with that. I hate running a cash game bank, and limit my cash games to a little under once a year.

As a side note from a poker outsider - I don’t see the positive/benefits from being bank. Forget hosting or using a chip set you want - just purely acting as the bank.

I’ve never seen people jump at the opportunity. What aspect of banking to people enjoy, other than not having to trust another human with the money/accounting?

Zero.
But I’d wager that for the VAST majority of home games, the host is the banker.

Yeah it’s a shit job but it’s the host responsibility. Even w friends. Or someone has to volunteer. But I understand ur sentiment.

Things that are bulls**t: everyone buying dark colored ford suvs.

Like brah, why buy a car that looks like a cop car in any rear view mirror.

Buy what you want, including suvs, black cars, fords, whatever. Just not a black ford suv.
