I can ask him but he's just one guy. I'd imagine that GPI employs a large amount of legal counsel. He's just their stateside rep. He's a great guy to find things out from but probably very limited in his influence.

My thoughts: it's an internet forum. Moderated by volunteers. I know the internet is Serious Business, but let's all calm down and look at the big picture and everything happening in the world right now. The enforcement of rules on a forum is going to be inherently inconsistent. We can't even get law enforcement to be consistent when people are trained and paid to do it as a job. So yeah, there's going to be some hiccups along the way. A 2-week ban from part of the forum is not the end of the world, and no one will remember it as a slight on Brie's character. We all know you are an awesome member here and this temp ban doesn't affect my opinion at all. If this is what it takes to make people aware of the bid retraction rule and how it will be enforced, so be it. It's also not worth getting angry over.

As @WedgeRock said, this too shall pass.

To quote another Buddhist saying (not actually from the Buddha, but close) regarding holding onto anger: “By doing this you are like a man who wants to hit another and picks up a burning ember or excrement in his hand and so first burns himself or makes himself stink.”

BTW, I don't think anyone, Dave included, was calling Brie's integrity into account. If she was permabanned, there would be an uprising. This is 2 weeks out of the classifieds. As mentioned, she has an inside track if she really wants something in there, so the net effect is extremely minimal.

Beyond that, this is a learning opportunity / reminder. Don't change a bid.
 
Here is a new thing that is bullshit, or was bullshit. I bought a rack of arc yellow roulettes off @Josh Kifer (none of this is his fault). On 7/7 the USPS marks them “delivered to a person”. I’m at 5850 Pardee in Taylor Mi turns out USPS delivered them to 6000 Pardee, they figured this out via GPS when they were dropped off.
No big deal I’ll walk down to 6000 Pardee and grab my chips. It turns out our neighbor at 6000 Pardee accepts about 300 packages of returned dietary supplements per day. They immediately palletize these and send them to a different warehouse for “processing” and frequently don’t look through the boxes for a month or more.
Anyway the squeaky wheel got the chips today finally.

Ben, you need to step back bro -- you are too emotionally involved, and seeing digs at your loved one where there are none, and lashing out for no good reason. Chill buddy -- nobody is taking swings at your girl, or dissing her character. Brie is an outstanding member (so are you), but your actions have not reflected positively on her, imo.

Barrie, you getting Involved in a semi-heated conversation rarely makes it better, and this has been no exception, so no surprise. You should just change your avatar to a gasoline can. And if you really hate how this place is run to your apparent dissatisfaction, please feel free to start your own chip forum. I'll stop by for a look-see.

Wedgerock and One Eyed Dollar summed it up pretty well, I thought. Brie's great, did something dumb (who hasn't), wrist was slapped, everybody still loves her, nobody will remember or give a crap about any of this in 30 days (except DoNotRetractBids, which is what the real point should be here). I think she's handled it better than most, especially once she understood the significance and reasoning behind it all. She's certainly handled it tons better than her white knights, which, if I were her, would find embarassing and rather patronizing and insulting, as if she were incapable of defending herself if so inclined, which I think we can all agree is not the case.

Nothing I've said here was directed at Brie, only to the underlying issue. And anybody who knows me also knows that if I think poorly of somebody specifically, I'm not shy about calling them out directly by name. That has not been the case.

Fact: bid retraction is bad
Fact: PCF now has policy regarding bid retractions
Fact: BGinGA applauds said policy and thinks it's long overdue
Fact: Brie is a great asset to PCF
Fact: nothing in this thread changes that
Fact: White knights should bow out where they aren't needed, instead of causing additional drama
Fact: wedgerock is a pretty wise dude when he isn't posting memes

What a fucking joke your above statement is, when people have repeatedly, repeatedly stated that this has beyond 0 to do with Brie, and is entirely about applying rules across the board with consistency (myself included, as I gave specific example. Where's all your outrage and nobility about following rules when we've literally stated, it's too tiresome and bad practice to change misdiagnosed or illgotten feedback?)

I am sorry for not quoting word for word, I will do better in the future so you can't obfuscate. For the record, you did not literally say the words "this is over", you simply chided people involved, reiterated your stance, and then said to "let this die, folks", after noone had commented on it this page. You're right, I was so offbase to describe it as getting in the last word and saying it was over?

If this isn't trolling or joking, you may want to see someone about fading mental faculties.

(I have no qualms about my perceived persona and attitude, I understand. If you fail to see and connect the dots as laid out above, or think that truly you needed to come back in, and tell everyone how you felt about what went down, person by person, after we had collectively moved on, you are so far from having any personal awareness that it's frightening and honestly indicative of larger problems. I'm not saying you're objectively wrong, and I'm not saying grow the fuck up. I'm just saying, instead of baiting and switching, creating narratives, and trying to draw extremely loose lines between words like "let this die" and "let this be over", why not either take your own advice and let it die without your consent, or use your oft shown critical thought and produce an objective summary that doesn't deem a response?)
