Definite yes on small claims court though. $3k for AC they didnt fix, gonna figure out how to file tomorrow.

Bruv, why are all adults assholes? I get that I can be a bit over the top friendly and trusting , but man people are just inherently dicks. A story.

Sellers A/C isn't right, AC guy comes out, they have him throw a piece of tape on for cheap, which he details may not work. Invoice 1203 on 08/04.

I move in. A/C obviously still isn't right. I ask them if the guy ever verified everything worked. They say yeah, they just don't have any proof, he didn't give them anything in writing.
I have him come back out, he says yeah it didn't work, needs replaced. We pay $2400, get it fixed correctly, invoiced 1233 on 10/08.

Tell the sellers, you didn't fix what you agreed to, pay us. They say nope, no dice. Oh and by the way, we were wrong, he did give us proof everything was fixed long ago.

The problem is the assholes LIED. They asked him to backdate the notes to 08/07, but he obviously just now created it, as evidenced by the invoice number. Invoice 1234 magically on 08/07.

Who does this shitty of a job of lying to save/steal a couple grand? If you have him backdate the notice, have him backdate the invoice number too.

Since they're going to make me go to court for $2500, I'll be tacking on the sprinkler systems, touch up on caulking around every window, and every other thing they didn't resolve perfectly as agreed to.

I would put pressure the AC guy too. Let him know this is going to court and show him the invoice numbers.
He’s going to face some licensing issues over this if he is licensed. If he’s not licensed throw that on the sellers plate too, only licensed contractors to make required repairs.

That's pretty shitty of the previous owners and the AC guy, but luckily they effectively handed you a paper trail to wipe the floor with them & their lies. Keep us posted, I hope it all works out for you.

However, my main take away from all this was 'Wait....his names not Barrie?!!'

I thought about it, but thinking leave it all alone until it gets to court. They obviously don't realize they made a pretty objective blunder, so no need to let them prepare a response to that.

When he came to fix it the second time, he said the very reason he didn't provide them any written documentation on the follow up was because the "fix" they chose doesn't necessarily work and he didn't want to be on the hook for it. He also mentioned that they he's still working with them on their new house, but I wouldn't have thought they would finagle something up.

Second meetup every called me Barrie, even on accident for those that knew me as Jeff from before. So for all intents and purposes, I am now Barrie.

We went to a friends BBQ last summer (when socialising was still a thing), some there suggested that a friend of ours looked their uncle Steve. So from then on we've called our mate Steve just to wind him up :LOL: :laugh:
 
The complete shutdown of Point Roberts WA is bullshit. I pray for the community's health and ability to endure this economic downturn with a closed border. They can't even reach the rest of WA state by road without going through Canada.

So sad posting this...just got off the phone with a buddie

He and his wifey are expecting a third, not planned but we were all over the moon (3 kids myself).
During the NIPT-test they found 'bad stuff'..... and she was diagnosed with cervical cancer including multiple metastases

Chemo is not working...the baby will be ok but today she got 6 months and will never see her kids growing up.
I would GIVE AWAY ALL MY CHIPS ON THE SPOT to give her 10 more years...this shit is just not fair

Count your blessing and hold those dear to you close, they can be gone before you know

Having just welcomed our first into the world this year, I can’t even imagine what that would be like. Just terrible.
 
Damn dude, that's so tragic. That poor family. I can't even begin to comprehend what they must be going through.

So sorry to hear that is happening to your friends.

Hold on to hope brother, I have had many family members and close friends that were given 6 months for cancer. My aunt is 78 and a life long smoker... I know she brought this one herself, but about 6 years ago she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and given 1 month! She is doing great and still with us today even thought that shit is all over everything now. They can't treat it anymore and she gets tired quickly but stil gets out and camps, goes to bluegrass concerts, driving and honestly living a normal life!

Another friend had cervical cancer at 24, her dreams were to have a little girl, she had a boy already... at the time she was single. They had to remove part of her cervix... before it spread, she met a guy they had a little girl before she had to have a full hysterectomy... she is totally fine now.

I know this may not help much but there is always hope! My thoughts and prayers are with you and their entire family as you are forced to face the hardest part of life Brother!

We've chatted before via PM - the door is always open if you need someone to be a listener. I am sorry to hear of the situation it is very sad. 2020 has been an unforgiving year. I hope the family is able to enjoy every second of time they have together
 
Got my CC flagged and blocked due to suspicious transactions via PayPal. No warnings. They demanded an explanation of a few of the transactions (back to February!), including who the recipients were and what it was all about. Waiting for a verdict now. Hope you guys won't get me into trouble!

Also, another good reason (as if there was need for more reasons) for NOT removing images and prices from Classifieds after things have been sold.
