I'm not arguing there isn't a market for them at these prices -- there certainly is. But to me, it seems the supply of some of these chips currently exceeds the demand.
The Tiger buy and sales were ambitious and comprehensive. Two cash sets from $0.25 to $25K, a tournament (hotstamp!) set, and oh, a full palette of NCVs just in case!

So it's natural that with a net cast that wide, there would be hits and misses.

One takeaway for me is that while there was a lot of hype/praise/love for hotstamps and bearclaws on this site pre-TP, at the end of the day, that hype has not materialized into strong demand for the hotstamps and NCVs. The biggest draw (by far, at least according to current classified activity) is inlaid cash chips with simpler spot patterns.

Is it clear that the 1s 5s and 100s are sold out? I haven't been following the threads that closely (the chips are gorgeous but far out of my price range) but the wording is vague. I understand that some are listed as sold out, but in the OP of the sale it states that some racks may be held back, or something similar.
I think it's clear that the sold out chips have sold out. Of course, anything is possible. Could there be a reserve stash of cash chips, which are being held back in an attempt to help sales of the less popular hotstamps/NCVs? Sure, I guess. But don't think it's likely. Simplest explanation is that there have been three rounds of sales already and what's sold out is sold out.

Just for that, I’m changing my answer. Because I’ve seen enough of them.
No they’re not worth it. They’re a FOMO con, targeting people with more money than brains who want to be in with the in crowd.
Also I don’t care for the inlay.

Some specific chips (sec $1 for example @$550/rack) are a pretty stellar deal. I don't think most people would question that to be honest. Some of the chips costing $1k+ are maybe more questionable.

So here is something I’ve been pondering for a while. All chips made for actual casinos need to have the location on the inlay, yet not so with the Tiger chips. Wouldn’t that give a clue as to what market the chips were really for? Just saying…..

Not true. Empress for example

I don’t think many chips are worth the price I pay. Not just these Tigers.

Why do I pay?

It’s exactly how @DirtyTIVA puts it….

It’s a hobby. Purely by choice I am here. I’m infected and sick, mentally disturbed, and possibly insane, but I derive joy from this hobby and the chips I surround myself with. That’s it. That is ALL that matters.

They don't personally appeal to me, but I can see why people are attracted to them. The initial sale being fully public certainly helped a ton. Trying to piece together previous NAGB sets from classifieds is a huge pain. I like the inlay, but overall the color palate is too over the top for me. The hot stamp set is probably my favorite of the bunch and I think it's because it limits itself to a single simple spot pattern vs the wild combination of patterns/colors of the cash sets.

And my opinion about the chipping hobby nowadays is you all are off your freaking rocker for paying these prices…not just for the Tigahs. It’s all perspective though really. I don’t have a lot of money to dump into this hobby so I play in the background and avoid the classifieds. But thats me and my situation so you really can’t get a true answer to this question unless we’re all on a level financial playing field.

I put my most expensive leaded chips in play this past Friday and was asked if they were the same kind of chips as my old Dunes (China Clay's). I politely said they were different and quite a bit more expensive. Pretty much every game I get a "these are nice" comment no matter what is felted and that is the extent of it. My card molds will probably get the same reaction once they hit the table. The truth is there are very few chips "worth it" to anyone outside our little fcked up corner of the poker world. If people here enjoy them and many are willingly paying the initial pricing, isn't that where "worth" is determined?

As always, different strokes for different folks. Ultimately I think these are hot on the felt and bought a set myself, although I'm using the green fracs. No regerts.

I’d rather spend my money on leaded chips with textured inlays. But that’s easier said than done, and a lot of people don’t like waiting around or building in pieces. That’s half the hobby for me. But if you want instant gratification, yeah, there’s another check in the Tiger column.
at the chance of derailing this thread, what chips do you recommend a beginner start chasing if they wanted to go for leaded, textured (optionally shaped) inlays?

Empress Joliet.

I say this because it’s the only leaded chips of this nature, that I own in quantity, and still pop up on here and feebay every now and then. Still sharp units to be found, and I’m a relative newb still, by my assessment. So it’s possible to build these out.

Perhaps PCA but it’s too expensive. Empress Joliet’s are far cheaper and fit the bill.

There goes my next couple of paychecks!
