I DON'T KNOW NOW, I JUST DON'T KNOW.....IF I'M GOIN BACK AGAIN!!

Here are a couple of young country artists that I like a lot. They're a little outside of the mainstream, which is just the way I like it.

Might be hard to believe, but Colter was only 21 years old when this one was recorded. That voice! Chilling.

Cool. I've got family near Palmer.
We try to get out about every other year or so (alternate years they think it's only fair to come to Florida for the weather).
I miss Salmon Jerky and days on the Kenai.

March 2022 meet up here if you can make it.

I wish I could upload my own videos instead of shitty youtube versions, but here are my some of my absolute treasures, in youtube quality.

This footage was unearthed about 14 years ago.

Maybe some of you were alive in the Bay area when this was on public television. A true rarity.

This was very soon after David took over for Syd.

Some grail footage here.

The best 3 guitar attack to melt your face right the fuck off. Steve Gaines was a freak. Strap in.
Since you like Skynyrd (who doesn't!) you may have heard these guys. Little East Texas band called Whiskey Myers. Definitely influenced by LS and also employ the 3 guitar attack. I was at this show (2/15/20 - last live show I saw before the lockdown) and they killed it. Also Ray Wylie Hubbard opened for them, so It was cool to see a Texas legend like him.

Here is a livestream that they did in May of this year. Skip ahead to about 10:00 if you don't want to watch the intro or hear Gasoline again.

Starting at 21:20 there is a sick 4+ minute guitar solo where all three guys take turns soloing and then the two main lead guys rip it up together. It's quite epic!

Honestly, never hear of them. Not too bad man.

Skynyrd is one of those bands people hear and think, oh yeah, this is ok, pretty good. They were incredible musicians. King, Collins and Rossington were all unbelievable guitarists. Later when Gaines joined the band, he fit right in like an old shoe. Just incredible stuff. He was one of the backup singers brother. I dunno, the whole legacy and mythology of Skynyrd has interested me since I was a teenager. They were the first concert I went to back in '94. Fun fact, a band called Bloodline opened up for them. Look em up, a band a famous musicians sons. I can't recall if they were any good. I was probably feeling pretty good myself. Tesla also opened up for them... meh.

I know Bloodline. In addition to the famous sons who I don't remember, that was Joe Bonamassa's first band!

OK, I had to look it up. This is from Wikipedia:

Bloodline was an American blues-rock band from New York City, New York. Formed in 1991, the group originally featured vocalist Aaron Hagar, lead guitarist "Smokin' Joe" Bonamassa, rhythm guitarist Waylon Krieger, bassist Berry Oakley, Jr., drummer Erin Davis and keyboardist Lou Segreti. After Hagar was fired due to creative differences, Oakley took over as lead vocalist and the group began recording demos for a planned studio album with producer Phil Ramone. Bloodline later signed with EMI Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1994, which was produced by Joe Hardy. The band broke up shortly after the album's touring cycle.

Originally formed as Bonamassa's backing band with the help of the guitarist's manager Roy Weisman, Bloodline's name was chosen based on the fact that four of the group's founding members were the sons of famous musicians – Hagar of Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, Krieger of former The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger, Oakley, Jr. of original Allman Brothers Band bassist Berry Oakley, and Davis of prolific jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. Following the band's breakup, Bloodline's members went on to join a range of other rock groups, while Bonamassa started his solo career in 2000 with the release of his debut album A New Day Yesterday.

Yep, all I really remember from that band was Robbie Krieger's son was in the band. I'm a Doors freak as well, so that was tidbit was seared into my brain.
BTW, Joe B was only 14 when Bloodline was formed and was 17 when you saw him in 1994. I'm jealous you saw him that young I've been a big fan since the early 2000s and once saw him live in Houston for $20. Now you can't touch a ticket to his shows for less than $100.

Don't be too jealous man, I can't remember Bloodline that well. I do remember being traumatized during the Skynyrd show though. I had lawn seats, and your typical assholes were tossing M80s around and one went off really close to me. It really did scar me for a while. Going to concerts on the lawn freaked me out for years after that. Always sketched out, wondering if it would happen again. Well, it did happened again years later at some other concert, I can't remember which.
