New to posting, so I apologize if anything is incorrect. I've played with Faded Spade decks a handful of times and was not impressed. I was completely done with them once I dealt a NLHE game. The cards wouldn't sit still. They'd slide everywhere, despite placing them carefully down. The top card would always slide off of the rest of the deck a little bit. Maybe it was a specific type of card they released from the brand? I just found that playing with the cards was frustrating due to how slippery they were.

I'm surprised that I have this opinion because players I've talked with in person absolutely love playing with Faded Spade cards. Has anybody heard anything similar to this / experienced the same thing?

I’m also not a fan. The card edges are so thick that you can’t easily form a stub to shuffle. The edges collide during a wash and drive a dealer towards madness. Requires way too much effort to shuffle over a long session. The appropriate place for Faded Spade cards is in the garbage. Just my opinion…:

They’re great for shuffle tech owners. I don’t enjoy hand shuffling them either. I don’t have that sliding issue you mentioned. Maybe your SSC is insanely smooth lol

lots of brand new decks behaves like that, mostly Copag in my experience, once they catch a bit of juice from sweaty palms they become more managable

Mediocre card with a hugh hype culture behind them. Really made for casinos/card rooms with shuffle machine. Thick and stiff. a real PITA to handle/shuffle/deal by hand. Also a weird lamination thing happening with them as well as the back will split off from the front. You are not alone with your impression.

I do like the grafics on them plus size of pips and font is well executed

damn shame was looking at trying faded spades

Any suggestions to use instead that do wash nicely?

I've used fournier and bullets playing cards, the bullets washed very nicely gliding over each other... but their faces are just so damn ugly I can't use them

I like Modiano Alphas, Design, Angel, Trefl.
Some do like the faded spades though so you never know.

Keeping my head down because I've heard negative things and don't want to argue, but I like them and my players love them, we like the stiffer stock because I play with apes. I would still advise picking some up used or something to try out. Worth a little bit.

Also, the different versions, 1.0-3.0 are really different textures. I'll check which one I'm thinking about when I get home if I remember, but one's much slipper than the other.

When you set down a plastic deck, press down on the top card. The top card of all plastic card brands will slide, so it's not an issue exclusive to Faded Spade. If you're used to paper cards, all plastic cards will feel slippery.

They have different versions. I don't like V1 and V2, but it appears they listened to constructive criticisms because I really like V3.

A home game I frequent uses faded space because of the 4-color deck, and California Grand also uses them (though I think they use bridge sized?). I haven't had any problem with them, though I have definitely noticed the top card sliding a bit. I run my games with Copags so maybe that's why I don't mind it since Copags are pretty slippery as well, though personally I prefer the Copags overall.

Copags are available in 4-colour (poker size). Check out Desjgn, too, for bridge.

My only bone to pick with the V3's is that the cards bow very easily. Already had corner bowing on the cards with just mock dealing an orbit and card peaking for 15 minutes. Playable still, but annoying.

V2 Faded Spade are as flat as the day I got them and they were in play for two long sessions.

V2>>>>>>>V3>>>>>V1 in my experience with Faded Spade in terms of playability.

The best PVC cards I have I've put into play for 3 or 4 five or six hour sessions and are still as flat as the day I unboxed them. Fournier, Piatnik, Cartamundi Belgium, and Copag stay the flattest in my experience. Dal Negro start to bow a bit after heavy use but I got at least four long sessions out of them before I noticed it on some of the newer desjgn Grand Victorian stock. Still playable but noticeable.

Weird, my Shuffletech hated Faded Spades. I’ve never had so many jams - ended up hand shuffling.

Personally, I like the new version Faded Spades though. I’ve used them the last several games I’ve hosted, but I like the heavier card stock, so take that for whatever it’s worth.

Which version are you using? My 3.0s had a very very slight bowing and my shuffler was having catastrophic jams, it was awful. I'm currently using 2.0s with maybe 2-3 jams that need me attention to correct them, and the shuffler carries on.

Version 3.0 for me. I never ordered the older versions due to the reported issues with cards splitting.

I just had another V2 card split, and the awful customer service at Faded Spade won’t replace it. I really like their cards, and they are my group’s favorite, but I hate supporting a company where the service is beyond trash.

"we like the stiffer stock because I play with apes" hahahahahahahahah thats hilarious dude. It makes sense, though, if players like bending the cards a bit more. If I'm just playing I don't really mind them. My frustrations come out mostly when I'm dealing the cards.

Yea, that's what I use for my games. Copag doesn't sell it in regular index anymore though, which is what I have (bought the decks in 2019). Have looked into Desjgn, but I prefer poker sized decks personally. Guess I wouldn't necessarily mind going back to 2-color decks but the Copags I have right now are fine so I have no need to switch right now.

Any help figuring which one is which version? 2.0? 3.0?

Red and black ones are more textured and I love it. Theyre actually bowed a bit as well which is insane, didnt think that was possible. 4color blue/green is very very slippery, dont like em nearly as much

I just bought these and got them delivered 2 weeks ago. It says Poker Size 3.0 on the edge, I assumed this meant version 3.0 but not sure
