Barrington poker table thread (7 Viewers)

Thanks. Toying with the idea of making some custom rails down the road so it would be 1 piece on each side instead of 3. Would make them taller with better cup holders also.
Any problem removing the cupholders when removing the borders? Mine are glued down quite strongly. How did you remove yours?

Yeah, hair dryer takes the cup holders out easily after about 10 secs of heat.

Exactly. Aim the hair dryer directly into the cup holder and then while you’re doing that use a screwdriver underneath the cup holder to start prying it up. After about 30 seconds of the hair dryer will start to come up easy.

Fun pro tip: if you decide to replace the cup holders, the old ones make wonderful little targets for a .22 or BB gun. Fun for the whole family!

Are they still selling these tables? I haven’t seen them lately.
they do sell these tables but they are expensive you have to wait till u can catch them on sale like they had the espn on walmart maybe a month - 1.5months ago it was like $190 now its $400 lol

that website just reeks of scam. but hey, i guess if you're willing to try with a credit card and request a chargeback if you get screwed.
It popped up when I was looking at Facebook marketplace as a sponsor. Not that it means it’s genuine or safe.

Yeah, I'd encourage everyone to steer wayyyy clear of that site with the $99 table. A cursory google search of their domain name led me to another site with more of the same items, but completely and unabashedly pretending to be Costco's website. Major scam nonsense going on there.

only just saw this thread.. really didnt like the original barrington felt so credit for repurposing this with suited speed cloth. looks pretty good!

I was hoping to pick up a Barrington or ESPN table but most things are I see are minimum of $270 now. Walmart has the ESPN table for 270 according to their website.

Also - maybe this should be another topic, but speed cloth.... Adam Savage's build of his table referred to using Pool Table cloth for the felt. I used to be a pretty avid pool player - we call it 'cloth' not 'felt'. So Adam made me think he was using Simonis (or a competitor like Granito). Of course it doesn't have the card suits in it. I can get my hands on Simonis 860 from a friend who re-covers tables but it's pretty expensive. Have you guys ever tried pool table cloth?

Honestly the work you guys have shown here look great and I'd probably just stick with that. I really appreciate all the time and effort it takes for you all to post pictures and lists of what you did. Super helpful.

If you have thoughts on where to find a table cheaper than walmart, or about using pool table cloth, feel free to reply!

Thanks!

I'm also curious if anyone has found any of these for less than 250 or so in the last months. Seems like all the Barrington listings are in the 400s now which is pretty crazy. ESPN table for 270 seems to be the best price at the moment.

Yep, we got the ESPN table last week from walmart and it was delivered in 2 days. Cheapest we could find.

I have Simonis 860 cloth on my pool table downstairs and it does not compare to suited speed cloth when talking card glide. It is badass pool table cloth though.

I used pool table cloth on a build once just because I had some. Granted it probably wasn't a high end brand, but from that experience, I do not recommend it for poker. If you don't like speed cloth (some people don't, but I personally don't understand why - it just feels right for cards), there are still better options. Pool table cloth is ideal for pool tables.

However, I have a friend who re-felted an old octagon with some random cheap felt he found at the fabric store, and it pilled so quickly it was absolutely impossible to deal on within a few games. Pool table felt is definitely better than that!

Thanks for the thoughts on pool table cloth! I'll just stick with the cloth you guys have tried and liked.

I was looking again for tables and hit this website that seemed a little shady, but no harm in me sending an email:

https://www.yoybuy.com/pd/3HEwfHQBglQUd0j4AbVM.html

I told them I'd be interested in 10 tables to see if they can get me a wholesaler price. Unfortunately no response and it's been a couple of days.

Not sure what the point of that site is.

I thought, if we could get a few of us together, maybe we could get like 10 tables at wholesale and order all the parts to do the customary upgrades. Then we meet at some central spot for a weekend and upgrade them and everybody takes one or two home. Sounds kinda fun.

What is the right size hole saw for the deeper D Vinci cup holders that were posted here? Is it 2.75 in?

How did you get the betting line?

Right? I’ve often wanted to put one on my speedcloth, but I don’t have the guts
Permanent marker, masking tape, long straight edge, and a lot of measuring...

I start with the lines parallel to the long rail, then use my ruler as a jig to create the semi-circles at the ends. Masking tape keeps the lines neat when you join the semi-circles to the parallel line.
