You guys are so nice with the "delayed", "lost" & "misplaced" talk. Out there somewhere is a postal working playing poker with brand new HNO chips tonight and when he hears "lost", misplaced" & "delayed" this is what he looks like.

We don't really get a choice on insurance when checking out through PayPal.

It all depends on how Jim shipped them.
Sure, you’re right. But nonetheless should be a way to investigate this with a shipping company. I hope so.
 
I think FRBs come with some minimal level of insurance.

Yes, Priority Mail includes insurance:

  • Priority Mail Express: Includes up to $100 of insurance at no additional charge
  • Priority Mail: Includes up to $50 of insurance for most retail packages, and $100 of insurance for most commercial packages
You can purchase additional insurance at any Post Office in increments up to $5,000. You can also purchase insurance online through:

  • PC Postage: Available for Priority Mail Express, Media Mail, and Library Mail items
  • Click-N-Ship: Available for Priority Mail Express and Priority Mail items
Insurance fees are in addition to postage and vary depending on the amount of coverage.

You can mail an item insured online using the following methods: Package Pickup, Dropped off at your local Post Office, Dropped in a Collection Box, and Placed in a mailbox or hand to your letter carrier.

USPS gives you 60 days for insured mail to file a claim. You can't file sooner than a predetermined number of days.
