Note on black & thin white lines/letters on black:

My latest conversation with Tina indicated they have a hard time printing with black, particularly thin white letters on black. The black “swallows” the white, so their designers have been thickening all thin white letters so they print clearly.

Something to keep in mind when designing.

This also contributes to why they want to keep using older files.

Note on sending designs:

I’ve seen this mentioned in side conversations, but to reiterate-

  • If you send them a new file, they’ll get it right.
  • If you use an existing design, so long as you identify the correct one, you should be fine.
  • If you submit a new design, please carefully work with them to identify what changed and ask for samples.

Conversely, she just asked to thin down some tight bold black text on another design.

So I have missed a few group buys over the last 8-10 months. I am definitely interested in a set of the cards mold. Who can I contact about another group buy? Does anyone in this thread know. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

You want to run one or you want to join one? If the former you can pm me and I can give you details but the basics are also in the OP of this thread.

Uh oh… new wrinkle to get everyone even more excited.

Tina just emailed me to give me an interesting heads up. If you order 50,000 chips on a custom mold, the mold is free (usually $2,300 fee) or they will rebate it back to you if you reach the quantity in aggregate across several orders.

Who's in for a slightly recessed/concave center/inlay to reduce the spinners!?

The problem is that with any recess it will impact the printing capabilities/quality.

Someone is currently working on a custom hybrid mold. Their existing hybrid mold is a bit too shallow and created spinners.
