Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions (11 Viewers)

Regarding leaving the game, why not simply let everyone know what your expectation is so everyone is aware as opposed to expecting people to know it?

I feel bad. I wouldn't say I'm overly picky, and I enjoy kinda liking all chips and mixes (except rat rods, those shouldn't exist).

But now I get it. I LOVE the BTPs, I still remember playing with them the first time, I was over the moon. I've never been as excited at getting to play on a set. And the Tigers, I'm on record with much love. After never ever buying even a single from any NAGB, I went all in. Every set, limits, etc. At the end of it all, I'll be the proud owner of 2 Tigers.

ALL THAT BEING SAID, I think I finally get it. At least I can get where people come from with some of the hate. This photo popped up and I was just instantly "Nope". It looks like a kids cartoon to me. This is some Nickelodeon melted crayon mess right here. I think the Tigers overall were very well planned and was able to work very nonsensible colors into a very sensible flow. To me there was a motif, a design by intent. And I love any tri moons (and these) and I love the avocados.

But damn, put em together this way and I think we finally broke me to think, hmmmmm, maybe I need to buy a white/red/green/black set  :ROFLMAO:

(I love that we can like diff things!)

I can get on board with that idea...

I love cali sets and all the stuff people are doing mixing and matching various chips, tigers and non-tigers alike, but there is something to be said about the original...the classics...

P.S. we only use Vegas colored sets in our game...occasionally changing one denom for variety.

This set is really something.

Out of curiosity, how much would that complete set cost today?

Let’s get back to some controversy!

I do not aspire to own any of the NAGB chips in any capacity.

Wonderful looking chips and I’d gladly play in games that used them. I just don’t ever want any for myself.

In a much less controversial comment, I’m not expecting that anyone cares about this and I’m sure it’s been covered hundreds of times already.

So where's the controversy?

That's not very controversial.

When I finally find the last infinity THC chips, I'll add them to my see thru visor gauntlet and check raise them to oblivion.....

But…..these are the most fun conversations!

Okay so - which nagbs have you played with so far? They’re for sure overblown and a large topic, but personally I think in a vacuum - as in if I never knew PCF existed and had no remote idea as to the cost of chips - I would still adore both the BTPs and Tigers.

The AS and Obis and all the others are cool, but I’d never know them apart from the rest of the chip sets out there.
Yeah I’m not much of an antagonist, just a thought I had with some of the chips/money that have been flying around in the classifieds recently.

I’ll think of something more likely to make people question my sanity and get back to you.
Ahhh so just a matter of cost yeah?

I could see that. Then again everything’s expensive now, so that kinda helps offset it. I don’t remember seeing a single $10k set for sale when I started out, and I never saw a single classified that was “this is priced insane, I know it. But in case someone is willing to pay it here it is” until recent years.

On the flip side, the possibility of making hundreds of thousands of dollars also entices people to get NAGBs through nowadays, so that’s a factor that can’t be ignored (as a positive). There’s your hot take! If nagbs weren’t so expensive, we wouldn’t have as many - def not SBs.

Make me proud! Really hit us with some foolishness. We beg for it.

This hobby has always been about casino chips to me. I never wanted fantasy chips of any kind and the NAGBs all fall into that category.
For me, entering the hobby was about getting chips for my home games like those used in casinos. Once I settled on near-mint Paulsons as my drug of choice, both slightly used casino Paulson chips and Paulson fantasy chips fit that bill.

My initial foray into the nagb realm was as close as I was likely to get to owning custom Paulsons.
