Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions (12 Viewers)

@MC_CPA

This really makes me wonder, if a “Group Buy” was really well organised with a stack of time is advance and a top notch designer how big the order would be.

Napkin math on some collections boggles the mind lol.

I like the exclusivity. For example the $500 orchid alt tp chip wouldn't hit as hard if everyone had them.

Yeah this is true. Maybe base sets sold pre, limited alt denom racks sold post via auction?

You’d probably never see the end of “mint” racks being sold. Reading the Tiger Palace “So it begins…” thread, Ken probably did the best release possible on balance.

That being said given the opportunity to buy those Secondary TP $1’s and $5’s cheaper because the order was huge! I’d probably have a limit set of those $1’s and MOAR Doublebooyah amounts of $5’s lol

I don’t know what ads you’re referring to specifically, but “Paulson” mold fantasy chips selling for north of $5/chip certainly makes me lol.
Paulson molds are almost always overpriced. Probably the highest quantity home chips out there and when people go to sell them, they get confused and see other top hat cane chips go for $5/chip+.

We've had separate finances for over 20 years, and it works great for us.

So please explain to us which compression clay manufacturer made them, and where does the mold currently reside?
I can't that's why guys like me are here. I'll give you "first fake clay chip" ("first" - Yes! You just drove these up in value - Not selling. Don't ask. lol) but in reality even the best chips are merely some "clay derivative."

I have about 1000 of these. Some still in the original wrappers. I think these are awesome chips. They are not sluggos. They are a clay composite chip.

That's all I'm saying. And they're great chips.

10-handed games are for hosts who adopt people as friends as quickly as they lose them
I have to agree. I detest 10 handed cash games. I'd split into two 5 player tables before doing one 10 handed. 9 sucks, but 8 is manageable though not ideal. 7 is perfect for NLHE and 6 is perfect for mixed games.

If I have a lot of demand for a game, I'll often open up registration to 9 seats, though I often hope that someone cancels and we play with 8, lol.

I find 8 to be a good number for Hold 'Em. I like 6-max, but if 1 or 2 players blow through their bankroll early or leave for some other reason, the table ends up short or, worse, the game breaks.

This is the way - invite 9 to protect against a last minute bail or early departure, and play with 8. I will also sometimes reserve the 9th spot for new folks, unreliables, or maybes so it doesn’t really change anything if they can’t make it.

Chips with flat black or neutral white backgrounds for their inlays tend to look too generic.

(Except Jacks. Except for MY Jacks.)

Older Chipco Unicorns--I can't remember what mine had stamped on them, but they were yellow--are the most underrated chips. They sound and stack amazingly well. I used to love shuffling those things.

Telling new members to “get samples first” is like dads sitting down teenage boys and telling them to use protection.

About half of teenage boys will listen. But half of them will just screw the first female who lets them, without protection unless she insists.

Ditto new members. Some will actually get samples. But many will just buy the first shiny toy which catches their eye.

(Fortunately, PCF parents don’t have to foot the bill for mistakes.)

Telling it as it is, rather than controversial.

I say that as someone who ordered a custom 1000 piece CPC set... without ever holding a CPC sample (protection). No regrets, they're awesome.

The thank yous in the mail showcase thread are a bit much. If somebody sent you something for free, or if they sold you the last chip you needed to fill a rack, sure, thanks all around. But when somebody lists chips for sale and you buy them - I think you can spare the rest of us the thank you.

I liked this due to the rare nature of a "controversial opinion" actually being controversial. Because damn, who actually gives a fck about seeing those eight letters alongside someone posting chip pron? You do. And somehow I respect how petty and "old man yells at clouds" that is.

thank you

Believe me, I was laughing while I posted it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m being 100% sincere, but I understand how silly it is that it bothers me.

I feel like a lot of fracs get re-labeled/murdered anyway, not necessarily as $2 chips.
Edit: oops! Quoted the wrong post lol

This is why I’ve never been impressed by Krish’s collection.

It’s easy when you have “unlimited” funds and pay someone to search chips for you.

He has some impressive sets sure, but it’s easy when someone else takes the time for you

Spoken like a true peasant. Now fetch me those Abate chips and have them cleaned and oiled for their photo session with Annie Liebovitz.
