Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions (10 Viewers)

Lol I like to imagine there's one guy at GPI who isn't in on the joke and has this up on his wall.

"PAUL. I'm telling you man, the SHIPS. WEREN'T. REAL. THEY NEVER WERE. This Tiger Palace? I been Googling and searching and I find NOTHING. Couple Chinese food joints that look like they barely have a restroom, let alone $25,000 bets! WHAT'S GOING ON?"

LOL of course GPI knew Tigers were for PCF. Like was mentioned before in this thread - you just have to know the right guy. His name is Richard in accounting. Goes by Dick. He likes the little donuts from the vending machine on the 2nd floor. Cinnamon not chocolate. Good luck.

"Hey Pete, I'm telling you. What casino needs this many fracs in 2023? Plus, they're so colorful and there's no city on the label. And get this, Pete. They ordered DEALER BUTTONS. Red flags everywhere."

"I know, Dick. Let's run this one back up the chain and have them reconfirm their gaming license. Those 300 weirdos on that one website aren't gonna get over on us this time!"

I don’t think it’s ridiculous to believe that Paulson/GPI knew those Tigers weren’t going to a real casino. It might be controversial, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t really matter.
I don't think that's an unpopular belief to have on PCF, since we are all chippers and think like chippers. It seems like a natural conclusion that every NAGB should have more or less been obvious to GPI from our perspective. From the perspective of such a huge company doing millions of chips and casino-related products all the time? Things start to change a bit. Maybe middle-management or the grunt that did realize something may have been a bit off doesn't get paid enough to give even half a shit. It would be cool to know though. Imma hit up Dick later.

Welcome to the out of context thread

Controversial opinion/prediction -- The market for Paulson NAGB chips will crash in the next couple years due to increased availability.
I hope you're right. What are you basing this on?

I think there is an equal if not greater chance Angel does away with clay chips.

Do we know what % of chips Angel/GPI produces each year are plastic and which are clay. Would love to see that number year over year.

Hot stamped chips are ugly and look cheap and archaic.
Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention. With some exceptions, I prefer my edgespots to be immaculate, machine done or whatever. I cannot stand those edgespots that look like they are hand-painted by a child with Parkinsons. Take a look at this (from another thread) attached picture. Ugh, hideous. Seems a lot of clay chips look like this, which is one reason I'm not that big on them in general (Obviously my taste in chips is very particular).

You realize the other side is the immaculate side right?

(Obviously my taste in chips is very particular).
Seems that way.

Great thing about chipping is everyone has strong feelings that are polar opposites. I've even done a complete 180 before on certain types of chips.

I love looking at plastic chips, dislike playing with most of them. I like how clay makes each chip somewhat unique based on imperfections.

You seem like a ceramics guy. Nothing wrong with it. I like them, too. There are many cards mold buys that you might be interested in.

I do prefer the feel and sound of ceramics and hard plastics. I do like clay chips themselves, I'm just very particular about the design and edgespots.

Just seems like the availability is increasing, more and more NAGB chips popping up. Who knows how many Tiger chips there are. There are just a lot more options for a small group of people.

I could very well be wrong, just a prediction.

Stories associated with chip sets are full of shit sometimes.

Sorry, but sometimes when I read a five paragraph explanation of why someone's childhood next door neighbor's dog who looked at them that one time became an unforgettable moment that only a relabeled chip set can pay tribute too I kind of zone out and wonder if there ever was a dog at all.
Tell me about it.

It takes that much self delusion to justify protecting a plagiarist but not the original artist/IP owner. But hey, when shoplifting is so casually condoned then we can just agree to disagree. Different sets of principles.

I feel like most people get so caught up on “Nevada” chips that they never look at chips from around the world. There are so many fantastic chips from so many other places.

I understand that “Nevada” chips are awesome but there’s lots of other great options out there as “grail” sets.

I see a lot of posts with people not wanting to playing mint chips with people who don't appreciate them or getting mad for players with how they handle chips.

In the casino people play poker and use chips primarily to play poker. They handle them jua3t as poorly or worse.

I like to play mint chips knowing that they'll get worn, at my games, by my players.

I look forward to the day I can admire my worn chips knowing how they were enjoyed by my friends and I playing poker.

You can't take them with you (although Ill probably pick a set to be buried with me when I die, not spiritual but just in case).

Fair warning, 1st drinks since dry January was over. Hope rhe post is as legible as I think it is.

Also, if you're not playing chips because they're super rare, why not? It's not like your going to ever sell them. No one else is going to appreciate mint leaded THC, TRKs, BCCs, etc. Etc.

Give me one good reason not to play mint chips?

And now thinking a bit more about it I realize I'm probably preaching to the choir. It seems like maybe it's the n00bs who haven't yet stuck around and realized it.

The conundrum of PCF:

A) Almost everyone here claims to feel this way. (Felt your chips/broken in chips are the best/etc.)
B) Half or more of the chips listed for sale, and the wanted ads posted are for MINT chips...

This does not compute. Some of you are lying about one or the other.
