CPC Set Under Construction -- Pillage & Plunder (1 Viewer)

I still greatly favor the lighter/tan inlay. Now saying that. The black also kicks ass.

Feels like the 20 needs different spot progression than the 100
I know, I know... I had the idea for the rainbow hundo long ago (as did Ben who has since already made them) so it's hard giving up on it. Even fits the theme as whenever someone throws one in the middle they have to yell HOIST THE COLORS! ;) I am struggling to come up with another that I like, see below for a few I threw together using base colors from the other chips. Free sample set to anyone who comes up with one that blows me away ;)
Regarding your latest mock-ups, just something you might have noticed already, in stacks, your ¼ Pie chip, your $5 and $20 all have an orangy shade... They are different enough but still could be just too much one tone in stacks... The only two colors outside of the orangy ones are Charcoal on the ¼ Pie and Black on the $20 and those usually don't create a lot of differences on the chip but more of a darker/lighter effect...
I KNOW, I KNOW!!! I have a major orange fetish when it comes to chips... the (now) 8-denom mixed tournament set I've been working on for years has some variation of orange on every chip :D See below for an alternate version that cuts a little off the $20.
The chip, with the lighter inlay, is PERFECTION in my book!
Huge compliment coming from the guy who is pumping out HOF set after HOF set, thanks!
It even gives me bad ideas about a set with a ton of those to play NL $1/$1 with $1s only... ;)
The Dayglo Peackock/Maroon chip that @Ronoh mocked up will be a definite in my next set.
You guys realize I'll need my name in the credits somewhere ;)

Thanks, I like both of them a lot. The plan has always been to use both of them, one on front and one on back. I can't wrap my head around whether I really think it's a good idea or if I am trying to hang on to it because it was in my initial vision. I seem to like the lighter version on the .50, 5 and 100 and prefer the dark one on the 1 and 20... wondering if alternating by demon (light, dark, light, dark, light) would be a good or terrible idea.
Really like bottom right.
I like the banner on the left chips much better and on the black inlays I find myself going back and forth between the lighter skull on the left and the black skull on the right.

Speaking of this.......... J5 is also making tournament denoms for these that I was initially planning on using on Gears labels for my mixed tourney set. It has occurred to me that I could piece out the 1300 chip mixed set to more than cover a 1000pc P&P CPC tournament set (hell, not getting labels made would cover the cost of two racks by itself).

It feels like I almost have to... yeah? I've just been tweaking that mixed set for so long the idea of not finishing them off is a bit painful.

I like the left banner and lighter skull on the left. Although I usually like red denoms, I don't like them on these chips. I definitely would do different color inlays on each side - it's like getting two different chip sets for the price of one.

Yes, I meant keep the 100 and tweak the 20, perhaps a 6A14 or 6D18 instead of 8D18 on the 20?

Tried that first... don't think I can get away from the 8D18 now that I mocked it up :)

First attempt at playing around w/ a tournament set... odds are good the final product will look nothing like these.

I am considering using this skull for the black label on the cash set

And this one for the black half of the tournament set (with the same banner as the cash chip)

Having trouble deciding between them... might as well use both.

The 5000 is actually my favorite in the mockup. I have the tiger/charcoal combo in the cash set :)

I thought the changes you made to the Cash set were great, man... Now you have a perfect contrast among the chips that will be in play together and the combinations work perfectly imo... I am a sucker for Orange in chips as well although I have not been able to incorporate too much of it i my sets because for some reason I decided to stick to traditional Cali colors...

I also like the Tourney set a lot... My only comment, and you know that already since you have the color samples, is that Dark Green is really dark... With a black chip as the next denom, the differentiation will be only in the spots almost... If you don't have anything against Retro Green, I'd try to use that instead... Same basic effect but a bit more contrast...

Alright, regarding the inlays: As I wrote a few times, LOVE the theme and LOVE what you have so far... I personally like the Red denoms a lot but if you're iffy about it, you can try some other color that matches the 'age' of the inlay, dark burnt orange for exemple, or a darkish green... Now, regarding having two different inlays per chip, although I like them both very much, I'd probably try to explore having two different designs on them... On the black side you could have a larger skull&swords, almost like a gray shadow, centralized, maybe a larger denom over it and the name around it... One of the many possibilities there... Since you have J5 engaged in the project, I'd take full advantage of his designs... Again, It's fantastic where both inlays are, I would just try the above to see where it takes me... If you don't like it, you can always go back to the Black inlay you have now...

Just checking in - I don't have anything to add (I've started to a couple of times, then told myself to STFU since I have no frigging clue on a design like this and you're doing way better than I ever could...)

Love the dual black and tan inlays. And this is SO awesome:

Hoist the colors, bitch ;)

Change the 25 to green
I agree

Thanks! Pretty sure the cash set is done far as colors and spots go. I had no intention of using 8D18 so I never even tried it out in the designer... once I mocked it up it was all over :)

Very good point. While my samples have been sitting here strewn out all over the place next to the computer I never even looked at them when I threw together the initial tournament set mock up. I'm not big on RG but I am feeling the love with regular green. I like them all but haven't yet sold myself on the 500 and 1000.

Appreciate the input bud :) I am fairly sure I am sticking with the same design on both sides but I will absolutely keep this in mind when I inevitably add on. These are only starting out as two 1000 piece sets (100/300/500/80/20 for cash and 200/300/100/300/100 for tourney plus bounties, extras and samples)... when I started it I liked the idea of changing a spot color slightly on a yearly commemorative but my spot ideas were far different at the time. I love that you brought this up, now I am loving the idea of commemorative inlay changes on the back (black label). :)

Far as denom colors and all that jazz J5 is still nailing down the design and hasn't allowed me to comment on such things until the design phase is complete :D That should be very soon as I love it. Submitted one more minor alteration request this morning... far as I'm concerned Phase One is a done deal after that :)

I am currently all about this one. Curious if anyone thinks there may be an issue with the lavender base T500 and charcoal base T5000 being they aren't THAT dissimilar in color...

I'm usually quiet about others' mockups because we all have our own tastes. But if the charcoal chip is your marquee chip, you might consider more color. You want people to take notice of the pattern and let the spots pop. I like the pirate theme colors (Oakland Raiders-esque) of the chip, but maybe at another denomination. I think you are ok with charcoal and lavender if the spots pull the base colors apart a bit. For example, keeping your lavender chip untouched, a bright yellow, orange, or green on the charcoal. Even a blue could do the trick.

My two cents.
