Have Chinese cards mold replica sets gone too far? (2 Viewers)

Well that’s awkward. And to think they could have simply used the “they’re pretty and I like them and the real ones are too expensive because of judgmental sacred cow worshiping collectors and arrogant flippers so get a grip” clause — and completely avoided the hassle.

was there a huge outcry when these were made?

It was all above board. Jim, the Chip Room, had these made.

I don't think many people cared one way or the other at the time. Just a cheap replica. He also came out the china clay versions of Pharaohs and Desert Palms.

The only thing that pissed people off was how Ten (Greg) marketed the china clay Pharaohs as compressed clay.

So true. People praise and never get mad at a guy like Jim from Chip room who buys chips in bulk for a discount only to be the biggest chip flipper known to man. Then Jim the big flipper of course flips them (in usually 60 seconds) for a nice little cash grab profit. Probably double his money, and yes there is risk involved. That is what Jim does, he risks and flips. Jim does not manufacture, again he simply flips. That flip is beyond praised. Reveled in some cases! But wait sham wow, furious anger results from someone who sets an alarm and changes their schedule to buy said chips from JIM the big flipper (yes during that crucial 60 second Jim flip sale) because that person buying from Jim decides to flip them at other places or other times (that might take longer then 60 seconds) for a fee? That flipper also takes a risk. Dont believe me. Did u see some of JIMs $1 used chips from Elsinore? I mean I saw a single chip picture in the sales ad, however when I saw the chip pRon of $1s that’s were sold I was baffled, and super thankful I didn’t own any. Yuck! Some were so beat (and far off the color in the OP picture) they should of been thrown away IMO. Again, So to some degree the first flip is ok, but don’t u dare be the second sale or else!? Lol things that make you go hmmmn I guess u really can’t please everyone…

Reminds me, took a break last year as I had a well respected guy here once ask me to go to get poker chips he claimed were for sale in Redding, the town I’m from. The chips were listed online. I saw the link he sent. I think they were asking $300 for a 4500 lot of chips on Craigslist. Anyways, Unfortunately it was Redding on the East coast, not Redding, California, and deff not my town. Anyways; He’s a well known royal member most cheerlead for. He ended up getting the chips for the said $300 and I saw the same chips listed by the racks here for $8000+ within a week. Is he a flipper too? Or is that ok because he’s a wild civilian Craigslist search computer bot key word harvester??? To me a flip is a flip, none of which causes me a second of anger, grief, or frustration.

And furthermore Susan, don’t get me started on tigers. Talk about a flip or flippers. Holy wow cash cow. Like hitting a real life jackpot, $6+ racks? CHA CHING!!! Nice little triple up, MINIMUM and again none of which caused me a second of anger, pain, or grief and YES that’s just another flipper. Like it or not, I thankfully, after many many years, and simply because of TINA, have plenty of the poker chips I desperately need to host my poker games at a high level! Boooya! You go Tigers!!!

Oh and ya and listen Linda, in case u missed it, card molds are awesome because they are useful, pretty, smell good, can be custom, and are super crazy redic UNDER priced gems for how truly amazing they are. The price is right Bob, and you guessed it, they are readily available. No special tiger or golden ticket needed, just cold hard cash. YES, mine are great, easy to get, and make feel amazing when I see my bank account and again smile at the 35 cents a piece price tag when I lose one after a three day poker marathon of mixed games with friends.

In summary Tina is not a flipper but she will potentially cause anger from people with stocks/hoards of chips. Why? Its money re-directed away from them. Lots of it. I know I likely won’t be buying too many chips for my personal poker collection other then from Tina. They look and work great, but then again I love people, not things. Tina requires no begging or special breakdowns, and that anger created from the risk flippers took when they stocked/hoarded the chips to flip/vault/showoff should be re-directed at themselves. I simply say God bless us all, and Ship it! View attachment 1055332

Tell me you don’t understand what a flipper is, without saying you don’t understand what a flipper is, but use at least 125,000 characters and reference two women by their first name that nobody here is familiar with.

was there a huge outcry when these were made?
Nope that much. At the time, brand new home market Paulsons were still available everywhere at reasonable prices. And flippers/hoarders were in a early stage. The hobby was in a better shape, since you had more ways (and cheaper) to get compression chips than today.

(Stirs pot)
was there a huge outcry when these were made?
No, because they had "commemorative" on the label, and the importer (TCR) had purchased the rights to the image.

Suck it, cards mold copiers!

I don’t know who either of those ladies are, but something tells me that they demand to speak to a manager.

I think that's what it was, just casual sexism with random names. Weird choice but understandable during righteous forum ranting.

Some of you all need to spend more time learning meme culture and pop-youtube / tiktok vids.

But as long as Karen is ok with it...

Ken is quite upset.

Jim does not manufacture, again he simply flips.
I’m neither a Jim worshipper nor an anti-flipping crazyperson. I honestly have no passion for either of those causes.
But I do like accuracy. And to say Jim is SIMPLY a flipper is inaccurate. That guy finds the chips, hires lawyers to negotiate for the chips, finances the chips, transports the chips, and then ships out thousands of packages of chips.
If you think that’s anything like a guy who mashes a few keys quickly and the resells the chips a few weeks later for 2x, you may not be too bright.

I’ll gladly take on Jim’s “hassle” to make the money he’s making off flipping chips. I agree, his business is different than the eBay vendor trying to fleece everyone, but I don’t think Jim is doing God’s work. I’m betting not many would turn down that opportunity.
