Hi,
Been playing poker for three years and i’m obsessed with everything about the game. I’ve been a long time reader and a short time member and was wondering how long everyone waited before dropping such a pretty penny on these high quality sets and if you wish you waited or bought sooner? Thanks!

I think from my first knowledge of the site to the first high end chips was like 1 year maybe 1.5yrs. But if it was to buying a sample set it was like maybe a month before I was setting alarms for TCR sales

I bought a custom chipco set directly from
Chipco as my first real set. Back then I thought that was the top of the chipping food chain. I used those chips for 17 years. Then I found this forum and my jaw dropped……..

Went from dice clays to Closed Casino Chips from eBay in under 2 years. This was around 2002-2003.

Ceramics, china clays, used Paulsons, then PCA mint secondary casino Paulsons which fully pushed me into the rabbit hole from which there is no recovery. Took about eighteen months, I think.

Actually, it's not so much a matter of when you get pushed, but by what.

First set was a Paulson FLV set. Had them about five years before this forum came into existence.

This forum wouldn’t count Apache majestic as a high quality set but it’s what I have and I am very happy with it.

I do want a dia de los muertos set too though.
Same, I got a Majestic tourney set and a Pharaoh's replica cash set.

I'm perfectly content with them while I wait for artistic inspiration for a custom set.
