Accusations of cheating in poker are extremely serious, and I think Garrett is way, way out of line for making such an evidence-free accusation based on one highly unusual, badly played hand. His argument boils down to "She didn't play the hand the way I think she should have, therefore she was cheating."

She didn't help herself with her bizarre behavior after the hand, but that can be explained by a lot of other reasons besides cheating.

If she's a cheat, she's a horrible one. And there are a lot more horrible poker players than horrible poker cheats.

She played the hand like someone who learned the game 10 minutes ago despite having a decent amount of experience in the game from what I understand.

Her excuse of saying “but I had the best hand” seems like gaslighting because she knows full well that while J high was technically the best hand at showdown, there’s almost no chance of that being the best hand when she called. What the hands were at showdown is almost irrelevant.

She’s framing the hand as if was her chance to “take a stand” against Garrett’s aggressive play but I don’t think even the fishiest of fish would choose that spot to pick off a bluff.

These games are often very soft. She has a very small sample size. I don't think we can really conclude one way or another if she cheated or not. There are very plausible explanations both ways. I leave about 60-40 of not cheating. Just a combination of entitlement, embarrassment, arrogance, being a female in a male dominated environment, and stupidity being the main factors.

But I also would not be surprised at all if she actually cheated.

It was idiocy on her part to make the call with J4 whether she was cheating or not.

If you're arguing that she's good enough to be a winning high stakes player, she's certainly good enough to know that she can NEVER call his shove there. And she knows there will be many other spots to get her stack in where she has a lock on the hand and she doesn't arouse suspicion.

So either she's a bad player who played a hand badly, or she's a cheating crusher who chose the worst possible spot she could have to stack off with a suspicious hand that was only a flip against her opponent?

My understanding is that the deckmates 2 know deck order and if used unethically can tell you which hand is winning. There are basically scams where a player can know they are winning before the board cards come out. It’s why some people are so uneasy playing in games with deckmate 2s. Not saying she was doing this but it is a thing that has been documented in crooked private games in the LA area in particular.
