My Journey As A Professional Poker Player (20 Viewers)

We limp-call a raise to $30 by LAG in the CO with :ad::6d::6c::5d:

6 ways to a flop of :th::9c::6h:

Checked to MP who bets $130 into $180

HJ calls, I fold, original raiser calls

Turn :kh:

Original raiser shoves, HJ has to fold his 87 and gets visibly agitated

Down about $250 in the 2/2/5 but just had 10/10/25 called

Just got back from eating. I'm HJ and given the option to post missed blinds or straddle

I say "I'll wait a few hands" cause I know it'll tilt the shit out of the guy who complains if I don't play til 3am I'm hitting and running lol

Lol, even better. I had put myself on the 2/2/5 and 5/5/10 lists just in case

I get back to the 10/10/25 and one player left, everyone else has tightened up and there's no list of players to call to fill the seat

I hear my name called for 2/2/5 and before the blind hits me (since I was waiting) I rack up and leave for the smaller game since this one looks not so good anymore

I'm up a small amount in that game and I know it's going to further irritate that one guy for later sessions

Enjoy reading the thread, especially the hands you share (wins, losses, folds). Rooting for you to keep holding your own. Curious if you have ramped up your studying of the game now that you are working your way up in stakes.

Experience is the best teacher. I did study when I first started, and I've tried to check out Jnandez but he's just too dry and boring to watch, plus a lot of his material is focused on 6-max online games, not really what I'm doing.

I noticed I adjusted my hand selection OOP greatly in the bigger games, although I still employ my "Pull" method, trying to keep pots small and multiway to handcuff the more aggressive players from being able to push you around facing multiway fields.

So I'm still pretty irked about the whole 15 players bumping me from 1st to 16th on the list I fucking started yesterday. The politics of the poker room make it frustrating, as there are a lot of scumbags out there trying to control who can play with their whales.

You should buy the management a copy of this book.

You think poker room management knows how to read??? :p

In all seriousness, I posted on 2+2 about this and received some great responses, one was a pm from a supervisor at a card room

He said that sometimes the names on the list are going to be too pro heavy, so calling the list just wastes everyones time as the game won't wind up running

Having someone organize a list which ensures some whales are in the mix not only makes the game run, but it bumps up the action on the 5/5/10 games as well as more players take seats there while they wait for an opening in the bigger game

Fortunately Thursday was the only time this happened so far, no bumps on fri/sat

Bunch of limpers at a tight table, we raise pot to $35 in CO with :9h::8h::6s::5s:

Tight player on button repops to $125

Everone folds, we call. Flop comes

:3h::7s::td:

We check, he bets $200. We repot, he calls it off with AAJ2 lol

I win first board but he holds on 2nd board to chop

I have been following lately and notice you like to run it twice.....I know it reduces variances and EV should be the same in long run...but do you feel opponents fold less if they think they get 2 chances at it?

We have :ac::9c::5c::5s: and limp, tight player raises to 25, few callers

Flop :as::2d::5h:

BB leads for 100, we call

Headsup to turn, he goes all-in for 130. We call and go twice, he has :9d::7h::4d::3h:

We don't get there and double him up

Shortly after stuck 500 we are dealt one of the best hands possible, :ah::ad::kd::kh: although I prefer AAJT double suited

We limp along, guy in LP makes it 15, few callers, another guy makes it 100, we spring the trap

He has :ac::qc::ts::3d:

He runs one flop, two turns and rivers. We bink the case Ace on the flop and hold to scoop

Another hand we are rock with :qh::js::th::9c:

See a flop of :qs::jh::2d:

Checked to us and we pot, one caller OOP

Turn :9c:

He bets out 20 which feels like a blocker bet, we call

River :4h:

He bets 100. I just don't buy it, give him the old "if I show will you fold?" His response seems forced, we call and he says good call

Officially unstuck

I believe it encourages them to chase when behind, figuring they'll hit one of the boards

We limp-call a small raise holding :ac::9c::9h::3s: from the blinds

5 ways to a flop of :kh::9c::8h:

Checked around. Turn :kd:

Checked to the guy raising every hand, he bets 200, I call

River :4s:

I check, he bets 200 again, I announce "i feel like I'm being milked" and call. He shows K8 to scoop
