I picked a 23 yr old last week. Not sure if I'll enjoy her over Christmas or save her until child no. 3 arrives

Over Christmas... Once you're outnumbered those opportunities become rarer and rarer...

I will make no further comment on picking up a 23 year old.

It's a Mortlach iirc. It's a Carn Mor bottling, their packaging is quite non-descript. We talked about 25 different whiskies and I can't recall which one I went for off the top of my head!

Ah. I've never had a Mortlach that was disappointing. One of my favorites.

The drinkier I get, the Christmassier I feel

Given a bottle of Sailor Jerry's spiced rum this Christmas. Thinking of adding a shot to the eggnog or o.j. Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks.

Always partial to a drop of Jura, in this case on me new Poker table... Anyone fancy a wee snifter?

No hard liquor yesterday, but when the 60+ people at our brunch dwindled down to a manageable ten, and the sun was setting, I started pulling out some of my older wines for tasting. We went through a Ridge Dusi Ranch zin, a Turley Haynes zin, and several others, but the stars were definitly 2) a 1991 Capitel del Roari Amarone, and 1) my last bottle of a huge 1979 Clos Fourtet.

I don't remember exactly when I picked up the Clos Fourtet, but the price sticker said $12.95. I miss those days!

We use the Four Roses every year for our mint juleps on derby day. Love it!

.... And the Coal ila my favorite

A little gritty, isn't it? (The 16 ob is one of my favorites, too.)

BTW, don't know if anyone's noted this, but empty bottles from Pappy Van Winkle, 15 to 23 year, are selling for $50 - $150 each on eBay. Shazam!
