A little gritty, isn't it? (The 16 ob is one of my favorites, too.)

-- Larry

Yeah pretty much like licking a tree. Haha. The wood smell is so high on this one, very particular.
Here are my favorites:
Redbreast is really nice for those who like to have a fruity finish

The Aberlour a'bunadh should be in everyone's top ten, IMO.

All good choices, except for the Wild Turkey. Pour it on a plant and buy yourself a good Calvados.

Don't worry for the calvados!
Haha
This one is homemade

Don't know if anyone has noticed, but *empty* Pappy Van Winkle bottles are selling for anywhere from $50 (the 15 year) to $150 (the reserve 20-23 year) on eBay!

It didn't take me long to find this thread. Currently enjoying: Sullivans Cove French Oak (down to my last dram), Yamazaki 18, Oban 14, Balvenie Doublewood and Lagavulin 16. I've got a wide selection of sample drams to keep me going, too.

Also enjoy a Coal Ila, Youchi and Woodford Reserve. The latter I first tasted on a Delta flight to New York (from England).

....Sullivans Cove French Oak....

That's one I'll probably never get to taste, due to both scarcity and price ($350-600 US when you can find a bottle over here). Did it live up to the hype? Must have, if you're down to the dregs without sharing.

You're the second "coal" drinker in recent days, and that's not even the Black Scotch. It's "caol ila", folks.

Which Youichi do you have? I haven't tasted the 20 yet, but the 12 and 15 are nice -- the 10, not so great.

It more than lived up to the hype. I'm actually sad that I'm down to a small amount. It is aged in port barrels and when I first opened it the small was incredible. I'm on the lookout for another one. I found a seller in the UK, but it is really cheap which makes me think it's a knock off.

Caol Ila! I'm blaming autocorrect. It's only a half bottle which is a shame as it's really nice. I'll certainly be topping up soon.

The Youichi is only a 12, I'd love to try the 20 but that's even more than the Sullivans Cove and seems to be less available.

My bad I know it but always do the mistake :p.

Had a few drinks of Crown Royal Reserve last night at @mike32 game. Very good shit. Almost to smooth. Would like just a little more bite to it.

Still Waters distillery. Stalk and Barrel Blended whisky is their basic bottling. They also make a Single Malt Whisky, and a 100% Rye Whisky too. The Rye is EXCELLENT, much better than that Northern Harvest bilge that is getting all the hype. Their Sinlge Malts are young (3-4 years at present), but show promise for longer casked bottlings. Made in Canada, eh . . .

A little bit of the bar, Love me a Kentucky mule!!!

Hmmm -- have you read post #16 in this thread?

I mean, jeez, *I'm* the old guy here...

This is a good bourbon. One point for day-twah.

Also, if you haven't had it, I highly, highly recommend the Midleton Very Rare Irish Whiskey. It was mentioned as part of another post about a year ago but it is simply the best whiskey, or whisky, I've ever tasted. It's pricey but, as they said in Pulp Fiction, when you taste it you will know where that additional money went. If you're a whiskey fan, it is one that's worth it for a very, very special occasion.

It's nice, but I still rank it slightly behind Yellow Spot, Green Spot, and Red Breast.

All fine sippers, though...

Had way too many 'Old Fashioned' cocktails last night! 2 oz Woodford Reserve, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, 1 Sugar cube, Few dashes plain water.

So, I've just found out that the Sullivan's Cove is back in stock in May from my supplier. You could see if they'll ship to America, or failing that I'd be happy to pour you a dram and sending it over to you.
