So, I've just found out that the Sullivan's Cove is back in stock in May from my supplier. You could see if they'll ship to America, or failing that I'd be happy to pour you a dram and sending it over to you.

Finally, a reason (well, financial reason!) to feel lucky to live in Tasmania! Usually I pay more for everything due to Australian tax and import duties, the Aussie dollar being weak and being in Tassie, I even tend to pay an unofficial "Bass Strait tax" too!! But I bought a bottle of Sullivans Cove French oak last year for only about AUD$140 ($100). I'm 10 minutes from the distillery. Lovely drop.

My all-time favourite is the Macallan 18 (12 not far behind) Sherry oak though. Love the sweeter ones over the smokey/peaty flavours.

Sullivan's is my favourite whiskey. Of any other whiskey. I buy all my whiskey from here: https://www.masterofmalt.com/

The Macallan is available as a sample, I may have to try it: https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiski...lan-1995-18-year-old-sherry-oak-whisky/?srh=1

This was a hit at my last cash game....

We finished off a bottle of that at my birthday weekend celebration. Huge hit. Very Smooth

Without having to dig thru 12 pages of info... Can you all recommend a good starter whiskey/bourbon. I have been and continue to be a beer drinker but bourbon/whiskey is much easier on the waistline. I have tried Weller SR and Bulleit Rye and both have been ok. Tried them neat and Manhattan's. Just having a hard time deciding what I like and or something thats more drinkable (smooth)

Woodford Reserve is a good starter bourbon. Drink it straight, on the rocks.

Finally got around to picking up some of this today. Super solid recommendation. Still learning the flavors and whatnot but this is the smoothest bourbon I've tried to date.

Thanks man!

According to the "Distiller's description"...

This bourbon earned a score of 97 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, 2 points higher than Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year Old Bourbon.

I do think their statement is pretty funny though. They claim higher scores than Pappy, but they are comparing it against Pappy's lowest scoring bottle, the 23 Year, which got a 95. But the 15 year scored a 98 and the 20 year scored a 99 :)

All of which is horseshit to me however. If it tastes good, I'm in!

Exactly.

I've only had Pappy's 15 year which I thought was ok but didn't necessarily live up to the hype.

High West Double Rye is very damn good. I highly recommend it.

Put a hell of a dent in the bottle Sunday night.

High West's Rendezvous Rye has been my official whisky for making old fashioneds for a couple of years now.

High West's Rendezvous Rye

One of my favorites. The local liquor store only had the Double Rye.

I've had a few Old Fashioneds. I'm not a fan of them. I prefer my drinks neat. Not a fan of any sweet flavors in my drinks.

use the orange and lemon peel (not rind) rather than the fruit when you muddle with the bitters, will make it a lot different. Unfortunately, my version has all the fruit and sugar, so you would hate mine, but it is family tradition version.

I have found that I am enjoying bourbon more neat than with ice even. Not that I drink it often, but that 5-7 times a year, seems better to me. Maybe because I am old and it warms my soul.....
