Got some bottles that need to go to a good home. I need to step back from the high ABV stuff that I typically enjoy. It’s all bourbons and ryes since I’ve lost my taste for it after my stroke, but this is way more about my long term health than my enjoyment of an occasional pour.

PM me for details if any of these catch your eye. Here’s a chance to restock some cabinet staples at or below retail. If anyone has any secondary HSIs they want to trade, I’m your huckleberry.

Edit…all that’s left now is listed below…

Russell’s Private Barrel Selection
Knob Creek Single Barrel Select
Old Soul Single Barrel Store Pick
Founders Cask Strength Series
Old Scout Single Barrel Bourbon
Sagamore Spirit Cask Strength
Old Scout Single Barrel Rye

Wish you were able to still enjoy but glad you’re recovering. GLWS. I may take some off your hands but I need to inventory mine first.

Tonight’s line up. Coy Hill will be bottle killed tonight surrounded by family.

The nose on the JD12 is fantastic. Like a strawberry danish with a lot of almond. The palate is more of the same, with a huge oak presence and great proof spice. So well balanced.

My wife tasted this and the JD10 and said, “This is WAY better than the other one.”

First pour was rare breed. For second pour I went with an rabbit hill and frankly it tasted terrible. Just weak sauce. I made a face and my wife says “pour it out, life is too short to drink shitty bourbon”

And so now my redo is this:

IIRC @krafticus is a Makers Mark expert/huge fan? Could you please rank the following in your opinion?

- Maker's Mark 2020 Limited Release SE4-PR5
- Maker's Mark 2021 Limited Release FAE-02
- Maker's Mark 2022 Limited Release BRT-01

I trust your opinion on this!

Drank some Iowa whiskey to celebrate the Iowa State victory in the Pop Tarts bowl! Need to go buy some cinnamon roll pop tarts tomorrow...

Of the five 2020 to 2022 MM limited releases, these are the “worst” three, though still quite good. FAE 01 should be a permanent MM offering, and it is a crime against bourbon that it isn’t.

Trying some rye Old Fashioneds...first Obtanium 15 yr 64.3 abv Canadian.View attachment 1439935
Up my alley and directly up my ass!

I’ve got 3 different Obtainium Ryes right now. I plan to compare them neat and in old fashioneds. I’ve got until Tuesday night to get it done before I’m dry for two months.

14yr at 144 proof
14yr at 128.8 proof
26yr at 154.6 proof

Wish my liver luck!

Damn, this kicks up front, but calms down very quickly to yield a crazy unique profile. A soft, creamy fruit cup with vanilla, surrounded by the typical Laphroiag smoke and brine and spice.

I'm gonna go dry until I drop 40! It's been a rough year. Hopefully 6000 kCal/week will get the job done by St. Paddy's day.
