Had a great workout tonight. Thought I would wind down by branching out and trying something from my ancestral homeland. My last name is McClelland, which is as Scottish as cabers, kilts, golf, scotch, and haggis. (It's a shame that McClelland scotch is so dreadful and gets awful reviews. It is literally piss.)

Drank it neat. The nose is all fruit, very pleasant. It's a little harsh on the tongue. But the finish is smooth and sweet. For $30, I feel like that's about right.

So, I have an extra bottle of Aberlour 18. Lovely whisky—smooth and hits all the right spots. But I somehow ended up with two unopened spares (and one newly open). Three bottles seems like overkill and I’d like to use the pantry space for another whisky, so I’m looking to trade out one.

Anyone interested in a trade for something interesting? I favor Islays, but open to other options. (Not usually a bourbon/rye drinker, but George T Stagg or Handy Sazerac Rye, I’m looking at you.)

I completely disagree. Three is my typical standard order, although not sure how common/uncommon this is guessing the latter. But I almost always try for three. One to drink, one to share one to keep.

Fair point, but given the sheer quantity of whisky in my cupboard, as well as several expressions of Aberlour, it'll be a while before I even get to the second bottle. And everything is fair game for sharing. I'd be happy to bring it to the next meetup I attend, but that could be quite a while (or at least until Nov 4th, when COVID will "disappear" like a fart in the wind).

Apropo of nothing, but I am going on record that I think the packaging that most whiskies come in is simply a waste of resources. What is the point of all the cardboard tubes and metal caps? Think of how much waste that produces, and the added expense.

Yes. I thought it was very, very good for the price Larry. Worth it imo.
Found a bottle of Old Ezra 7yr Barrel Strength and 2 of Booker's in my brother-in-law's small Idaho town. Had him pick them up for me. I'm excited to try both...but will have to wait until we see each other in a few months.

To be honest, the best nosing notes I get are the next morning in a glen that I drank out of and the residual alcohol has evaporated.
The more I drink whiskey, the more I swear that letting the liquor sit open so the 3+ ppm of methanol and other high vapor pressure low molecular weight awful tasting shit can evaporate improves every drink I put in my mouth.
