Been so into bourbon lately that I haven't gone back to my first love of scotch in months. Haven't even had a sip yet, but just a smell from this glass makes me forget all about the bourbons I've had.

Might have to update my "5 bottles list"

1. Daily drinker - Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength

2. Impress your guests - Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength

3. Cheap mixer (and for guests you know won’t appreciate it): WT 101

4. Something great - your Friday night: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength

5. The saving for a special occasion bottle: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength
Have you tried Ardbeg Ugaildail? I like laphroaig, but that ugaildail is something special. The nose, the palate and the finish are all so good.

So my new liquor store friend (who gets deliveries on Tues and Thurs) showed me this today:

It's meaningless to me, but he seemed pretty proud of his new stock.

I haven’t, but I just ordered a bottle of the Corry last night that I’m excited to try.

I bought the Corry bc people compare it against the ugaidail with split preferences. I like the ugaidail so much more. But that’s just my taste and preference
Corry sounds like more my speed from what I’ve read, but definitely want to try both

I have a Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof that smells, and finishes, just like bananas foster.

DE is skewed by the fact there is no sales tax and the beach towns which sell a ton of booze. Source: I used to live there.
Yeah. I'm just over the border in PA and I take a trip to Total Wine in DE 2-3 times a month. A handle of Makers Mark is $17 cheaper in DE. That more than pays for the gas.

If you're talking about the one in Pike Creek, I lived about 2 minutes from that. It was like the Disney World of liquor stores.

@JeepologyOffroad @joeyshin :

Really hard to pick a favorite among the Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength, Oogie or Corry. All three are outstanding and depending on the day they shift positions for me.

They are indeed very different. The Laphroaig is matured in ex-bourbon only, the Oogie in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry and the Corry ex-bourbon and French oak (spicier). All three are bruisers!

Tthe only one of the three that carries an age statement is the Laphroaig though. The Ardbegs are likely younger, which usually is not an issue for peated Malts.

Price-wise, at least on average in the US, the Laphroaig 10 CS is a bit lower than the those two Ardbegs which price have been increasing the last couple of years. Value-wise, it's hard to beat the Laphroaig 10 CS imo.

Again, I cannot pick a favorite here, LOL!

value wise..i like laphroaig, but ive been in a oogie mood lately. I also have the Ten, but havent tried it yet. Laphroaig is sometimes too medicinal for me and i really get when people say it smells like bandaids. But the 'funk' notes in the Ardbeg i really like..makes me want to drink more.

I have blended the Oogie with the Laphroaig and it was very nice. I've been sampling different ratios of each, but they work so well together

Totally understandable! There's definitely a difference between Laphroaig's peat (more medicinal) and Ardbeg's peat (more earthy) to me. Some people like one over the other. I like them both equally I guess, LOL!

Oogie is a banger for sure! Specially for those who like a bit of the dark fruit, sherry character.

The Ardbeg Ten, as far as Islays go, is hard to beat: 46% ABV, non-chilled filter, age stated for around $45! I like higher ABV personally but I always have Ardbeg 10 around.

Good Luck! Is that allotment total for the State?

Haul from this morning, been trying to track down this Michters for a couple years, got a new store owner that hooked me up at ~msrp, can’t wait to try it. Haven’t had much Whistlepig, but apparently this is from an overlooked 17.5yr barrel K&L got ahold of. View attachment 589321

Which recipe 4Roses? Their barrel strengths are hands down my favorite non-Uber rare bourbon, particularly OBSO, OBSK and OBSV >10years old.

f you could score another bottle or two of Mitches toasted barrel at that price I would take one for sure. Well done! Let me know.

Man I sure hope to find another, I've been looking for a couple years and this was the first one I've seen under $200 haha. Cracked it open last night, such a delicious dessert pour, all caramel, butterscotch up front and a nice peppercorn lonnng finish.
