Damn I’m a good brother!!

Unintentional comedy today at a small stripmall liquor store:

Bringing some bottles up to the register, I spot a bottle of Geo T. Stagg behind the counter on a shelf with a bunch of not-so-allocated bottles. I ask the clerk behind the covid plexiglas how much it is, and she says "it's fifty." I can't believe my luck--I've finally struck paydirt!--and I say "I'll take it."

She then starts ringing up my purchases, saying the prices as she goes, and when she gets to the Stagg, says "$650"... the bottle is still there if anyone wants it. I need some Q-Tips. :banghead:

I have noticed, without a doubt, that ALL my bottles taste better after being open for at least 2 to 3 weeks. If that is not the neck pour phenomenon then I am mistaken. But I do notice a big difference in flavor after a bottle has been open a few weeks. I am assuming it is because of the extra exposure to oxygen. Anyone else ever notice this?
I was a huge skeptic too, but I’ve definitely noticed this with most bottles
Neck pour. No matter what you do, some parts per million level of light hydrocarbon is going to be in your whiskey when bottled. And for the most part, our palates are very sensitive to them and they are foul. The thinking goes, however, that when you open a bottle, they are the first vapors to exit, and they are, but it takes some open time, or some head space in the bottle, for that to take place. I had a Michter rye that was just nasty. Drank some a few weeks later and it was great. Call me a believer.
+1
I wasn't a believer tbh, but after re-tasting a few bottles again after opening and trying last week, i'm on board lol

What'd you think of the Dickel BiB

So friggin cool! This looks like a blast. Btw, what color is that green chip?
Lime green.

Starting off strong. #1 is very good. Very sweet on the nose to me. Lots of caramel and toasted sweet flavor. Finish saves it from being too sweet. Not a ton of heat, but no slouch either. Maybe around 100 proof is my guess. Solid pour. Would buy it... whatever it is

Edit: just finished it up and poured a glass of Russell’s. Proof has gotta be higher haha. Changing to 115 proof for my guess

It’s a good one to start with. And easy to find.

My take (I know what they all are).

;)

Nose is like cherry candy and caramel. Sweet flavor. Cherry still and toasted. A bit of rye spice or pepper on the finish, but not much at all.
