So I’ve been looking for this bottle for about a year. I had the sample from @Pinkdan just last night. I think it was lucky!

The Russell’s 10yr 90-proof was obliterated in the neat test. Disintegrated. It was the Kathy Griffin being thrown out of bed because Tyra Banks and Adriana Lima were there too. The single barrel performed well, but was a clear loser to the 13. A little too much astringency, and a shallower flavor palate. I’m 1/4 drunk, waiting for the cubes to melt a little, then time to do more science.

I like larceny better then the wellers SR but I only have the small batch avialbale
I had a bottle of Larceny and didn’t like it. Said I wouldn’t buy it again. I started mixing with it. Then I got to the last 1/3 of the bottle and loved it neat. Bought another bottle. Rinse and repeat.

It’s really not great IMHO until the last 1/3. Then it is great!

What’s funny is @Pinkdan said the same thing about his barrel proof. So I know what I am in for with my BP bottle.

Weller SR is way over priced by the way. It’s no better than Larceny.

1st 2 pours of larceny (maybe 4 -6 oz) was harsh but after that it just got better and better to me. I think i have to get some woodford wheated, and if I get the chance 1982 sweat wheat or pappy.

about to go for my 5th pour of wheeler

Drinking like this is literally the only way I can determine if I like one bourbon more than another. For now. I'm still pretty new at whiskey drinking, and on average I only drink it once or twice a week. If I take a week off, and try something new, like say Kentucky Spirit, I won't be able to compare it easily to any of these three that I'm drinking tonight, unless I'm also drinking them at the same time. My ratings are neanderthal-like. Great, good, okay, crap. Russell 13 is good to great, the single barrel is good, and the Russell 10 is okay.

Damn it @Pinkdan. Now I need to go find a bottle of this! Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered.

So much caramel and vanilla on the nose. So much. And maybe honeycrisp apple too.

Palate is pepper, caramel apple and a little nuttiness. Very little. This is a fantastic pour. Is $107 a good price?

I’m drinking that tonight too! I think I bought mine for around $80-90. It’s. Great pour

On the rocks, the results were a little closer, but it was still

Russell’s 13 > Russell’s single barrel

Thank you for indulging me for what is likely the one and only time in my life where I had a new whiskey before just about everybody else.

First Del Mesa order was a breeze. Will definitley be checking that website more often! These are the hard to find around here and when you do it’s $40. So even with shipping adding a bunch per bottle these were a steal at $20. I forget who posted the link but thank you!

I really shouldn’t share my secrets. Hahahaha

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this one once you open it. The bottle I bought last week is from batch 53(113.8p) and the neck pour on Monday night was very good!

I have 1/4 bottle left of SW UCUF Batch 33, bottled 12/14/20 @ 114.44 proof
My new arrival is Batch 54, bottled 4/8/21 @ 115.52 proof

Looking forward to the new one!
