Thank you @Pinkdan.

Bardstown Discovery Series #4.

I’ve never had any of the Discovery Series, so I’m not able to compare them. This pour is fantastic! Nose is tons of caramel and baking spice with some oak. Palate is dried fruit and spice. The proof is perfect!

Alright @Big Jilm and @Irish below is my attempt. As I said, it's super hard for me coming up with lists like that, LOL!

A few caveats: I'm only listing bottles I had a meaningful time with it. Some of the best pours I had were a one time only type of deal, so they are out. Out are also bottle that are super expensive. Some are still very pricey but not mortgage level pricey. Most importantly, I'm listing "memorable" bottles as opposed to "best" bottles. There's a subtle but important distinction imo. Memorable bottles have flavor 'hooks' that are more important than balance or class, for exemple. Anyways, blah, blah, blah... Oh, and only one bottle per brand.

Bourbon
  1. Barrell Craft Spirits 15yo First Release
  2. Mayor Pingree Black Label 7yo
  3. Old Carter Bourbon Batch 5
  4. George T Stagg 2015
  5. ECBP Pirate Bottle 139.4 Proof
Rye
  1. Old Carter Rye Batch 5
  2. Kentucky Owl Batch 1
  3. Jack Daniels SB Barrel Proof Rye
  4. Parkers Heritage Heavy Charred Rye
  5. Rabbit Hole Boxgrail Founders Collection
Finished/American Whiskey
  1. Bardstown Bourbon Company Chateau de Laubade
  2. Old Carter American Whiskey Batch 3
  3. Whistle Pig Bosshog The Black Prince
  4. Magnus Cigar Blend Batch 12 (I think)
  5. Haystack Needle Port Finish
Irish
  1. Teeling 24yo
  2. Blue Spot 7yo
  3. Red Breast 12yo Cask Strength
  4. Bushmills 21yo
  5. Glendalough 13yo Mizunara Cask
Scotch Peated
  1. Caol Ila 34yo Cadenheads
  2. Ardbeg Dark Cove Committee Release
  3. Octomore 06.3
  4. Lagavulin 12yo Cask Strength 2017
  5. Laphroaig 10yo Cask Strength Batch 6
Scotch Non-Peated
  1. Glendronach 1993 Single Cask 652
  2. Glenallachie 21yo Batch 1
  3. Springbank 19 Re-Charred Sherry
  4. Craigellachie Double Barreled
  5. Clynelish 1995 Signatory Single Cask 8676
I still feel like shit as I think there are a ton of bottles that deserve to be on the above lists, especially under both Scotch banners. Oh well...
Any idea what the EC pirate bottle goes for? I randomly came across one yesterday, 139 proof, debating about grabbing it but the cork looked funny - kind of mushy if that makes sense

I haven't seen many of those around on the secondary lately but if my mind serves me right, the 139.4 Proof should be on the $250+ range. I think if you find it for a good price, I would grab it. But yeah, if the cork is mushy, that could be risky. I never had any issues with bad corks in whisky. I wish I could say the same about wines, lol! I did however, like many of us, had a bunch of corks breaking, especially in dusty Scotch, but taste was totally fine.

The price seems pretty decent then at $130 if the secondary is that high. I wasn't sure if the cork could ruin the juice, but it sounds like it might be worth a shot

I would personally snag that bottle at $130. Do you remember if it was the 139.4 or the 139.8? Both are good btw although i prefer the 139.4... Is it twice as good as the recent releases? Maybe not twice as good but to me, yes, better. And for the difference, I'd take a swing at tasting the ECBP from a time when only the best 12 year old barrels were being bottled BP and the rest, bottle as part of the now defunct 12yo Small Batch.

It was definitely 139 proof but i dont recall if it was .4 or .8 though. The store isn't too far away, so i'll swing by to check it out again - thanks man, I appreciate it!

Whistlepig always seems a little pricey to me compared to other stuff out there, but I’ll probably grab another bottle after tasting this one

Just tried Larceny. My first wheated. I get it now. Delicious!
Maker's is wheated. Weller is a unicorn in Indiana, but it is also wheated. I'm sure you knew. There are also a bunch of wheated whiskeys, but not sure if they are bourbons, like Bernheim and Wyoming. There's a Woodford and a 1792 too. Again, I'm sure you knew.

Nope...pretty uneducated in this endeavor. Makers does not taste this sweet. Not even close to this flavor profile. And I've been a Maker's fan until I actually branched out. What I know about whiskey I basically learned in this thread.
