Disclaimer: This is my first pour from each of these bottles. I hope they all open up over time.
Lost Monarch: Such a unique nose. I’ve never had a bourye. If I smelled it blind, I’d think it was a young, bright scotch. Palate is so complex, with bourbon vanilla and caramel flavors winning over the subtle rye spice. It’s pretty good at $35.
EH Taylor Single Barrel: Just like the small batch, but a bit better. Vanilla, caramel, slight oak, raisin, butterscotch. It’s really good, especially at retail. Hoping it opens up, but I don’t think my bottle is leaps above the small batch.
Weller Full Proof: Sugar, caramel, and vanilla frosting nose. Palate is less of the same, a little oak and cinnamon. A little heat on the finish. Really hoping this one opens up. As of right now, I prefer the A107 at 107 proof vs the 114 of the full proof.
Larceny Barrel Proof: Sooooo much better than the standard Larceny. Nose is sugar, cherry, toasted oak, and floral. Palate is dried fruit (cherry maybe) and burnt caramel. 114 is a great proof for Larceny. They should ONLY release barrel proof.
Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered: My favorite of the bunch, and it’s not even close. The nose is so intense with caramel, vanilla and a hint of orange peel. The palate is so complex, and different with each sip. So much going on in this one. I love it and will be getting more.
Old Ezra 7yr: Maybe the best nose of them all. Standard vanilla, caramel, oak, brown sugar. Palate is powerful with fruit, caramel, spice and a little oak. It’s really good.
