Tonight’s project, thanks to @Big Jilm . Hope he wins his bottle so I don’t have to share! :D:LOL:

(The high proof is going to kill me)
My favorite store owner says he is working to get 3 cases of RR 13yr. He promises me a bottle, but already knows I’m going to want 2 or 3. Hahahahaha

so I just have bourbons and wheat whiskeys and no ryes. what moderately priced rye should I try?

132 proof vs 144 proof. What could go wrong?

Alberta Premium - Nose is vanilla and cinnamon. Subtle mint and rye. And strong ethanol. There is no mystery regarding the proof. Palate is sweet, rye start to finish. A bit of citrus. And a long hot finish of rye spice. So damn good.

Obtainium 14yr - Nose is very floral. Vanilla and subtle oak. The rye and proof are more concealed compared to the Alberta. Palate is vanilla, oak, a little minty. Much less rye spice heat than the Alberta. But it’s a slow long warm (vs hot) burn. The mouth feel is very syrupy. Second sip is much more rye forward, melding with the vanilla. This one is also really good. But dangerous!

Depends on how you define "moderately priced"

X2 on the Willet 10 year ($60ish) or Old Forester Rye ($30ish) and I'd add Elijah Craig Rye ($35-$40)
