Official PCF Whisk(e)y Thread (88 Viewers)

With all the love for the Seagrass in this thread, I may have to look for a bottle.
As of this morning, I had one open and a backup. I decided today that wasn't enough. Went out today and found two more. Under $100 each out the door. If I quit drinking them, I'm pretty sure I have a receptive audience here to take them off my hands.

People are saying it's gonna be the replacement for Early Times BiB from Brown Forman now that they sold ET to Sazerac. I get it for $28ish in PA and it is damn good!
So is Early Times BiB not gonna be good anymore?

Cheers, @Big Jilm !

Damn, the nose on this one is vanilla frosting and gingerbread. There is a hint of apricot and rye. It smells absolutely fantastic.

Palate has so much going on. Sweet at first with vanilla and sweet oak. Then the spices hit. Cinnamon, pepper and rye with some apricot again.

I loved Pact 6. This one is better. Wow.

I have one, heard some negative things. Your positive words outweigh everything sir. I am IN!

My god. I had to compare Kentucky Owl #4 against Seagrass. Truth is, they are both HOF whiskeys. But not comparable. The finished aspect on the Seagrass gives it an unbelievable edge. However, the straight rye goodness from the KO4 is arguably exquisite!

$200?
Always see it for $400 online. Not really sure. It is not available in Oregon

I think you might be right. Best I've seen is $240-250, but recently, the bourbon is $300. There's a rye Batch 8 near me for $249. Some folks say the rye isn't as good, but I think that is likely because those folks don't like rye. (And given the Carters' track record with rye at Kentucky Owl, I think it is bunk.)

Before I became a whiskey buying psycho, I would sip on Bulleit Rye and coke when I had whiskey. I found my Bulleit in the back of the cabinet and poured some into a rocks glass. Sipped it straight for a minute. Not bad. I definitely have worse ryes in my collection. Then, i through some ice in and poured some coke. Bulleit rye and coke is still a great combo!
