So I had like 15 other bottles lined up to open next, but you guys really piqued my interest .....

Definitely something different and pretty damn tasty. I get lots and lots of apricot, both on the nose and the palette. The Madeira cask is also present on the nose, as is some salty sea brine. Sweet red fruits come through on the initial taste, then the proof and spicy rye take over as it finishes. Really interesting dram - the name is perfectly picked out. I picked up these two for $72 each, at that price it's a pretty nice bottle. Not sure I'd be a buyer again at $100+

 :ROFLMAO: Yeah this is a really funny hobby. You guys out west can get bottles and bottles of Weller and EHT for next to nothing and folks slit their wrists for them out here for anything close to retail + 30-50%. These have literally been sitting on the shelves for months here, always passed them over. Nice recommendation.

The laws separating liquor making, distributing, and retailing, plus widely varying local laws from dry counties to state monopolies to free markets, are responsible for what you describe. There are some inefficiencies no doubt, and we consumers carve ourselves very different niches.

Yep, there was an excellent article in Whiskey Advocate a year or so back that explained it very well. Considering all the various legal roadblocks and red tape it's pretty amazing anything is actually available.

Maybe I'm a bit sadistic but IMHO it kind of makes the hobby more interesting, you can't just go to a one stop amazon-like vending machine and get whatever you want. You either drop crazy stupid cash to get whatever your want or simply enjoy the offerings you can get locally and network/trade here and there to get a few from other areas.

Was happy to find the 111, but being one that enjoys rye, had to get it as well.

You guys might wanna acquire the Chattanooga rye for sub $40.

Very good first impression last night. Sweet and spicy. I got a light malt and a lot of chocolate brownie (esp on the nose), spearmint, spice, subtle honey.

Definitely over woodinville rye for me. Actually enjoyed more than I have my rare breed rye too.

Will see how it opens from here...

Cool bottle and cork too.

Only thread I'm following right now and don't care if this post doesn't fit, but I'm pounding Cooper's Craft 100 while my 3 yo lab is in emergency surgery for a blocked intestine. Dumb mutherfucker eats anything that fits. Won't know until the morning if he makes it. I'm sad.
Damn, that sucks. Sending all the run-good and karma to you and your pooch.

Sorry to hear, hope your pup pulls through!

It occurred to me today that I've opened my 2021 Dickel BiB, and I've sent out a sample of my 2021 Dickel BiB, but I haven't yet drank any of my 2021 Dickel BiB. I'm going to fix that tonight, and raise a glass to your pooch hoping that the dumb motherfucker makes it.

Wishing your doggy some run good.

I’ve got a semi inappropriate Reddit clip that I could share of a doggy puking something up. Might give you a laugh.

The 12yr is so good!!!!

I just cracked my first 12 year @Saoliver .... gonna let it sit for a long time before I try it. (reason) I just finished a 15 year which I hated at first, but it got slowly better with time. Then the last 2 pours were outstanding. So, I will give it a lot of time.

It’s better than the 15.

Are Eagle Rares easy to get where you people are ?

(He said 'you people'....RASCIST)
Chicagoland is difficult, but you can snag them for $40-$50 on secondary, unless you have a connection with your local store. I was able to get mine at retail.
