Ok. I'll go one at a time until the final 2.

Last place is C. 5th place...I am off tonight though! Nose was rye spice, caramel, raisins or even raisin bran cereal, funky, at one point I smelled rotting fruit in malted vomit. Lol, but I did write that! Palate gave way to more rye spice and some proof. Finish was long. My guess is a 128 proof rye. Obtainium Rye

4th place is B. Super confused on this one. Nose was bready, red fruit, burnt caramel, chocolate, and smokey oakey. Palate gave way to more proof than A. Finish was medium. I say 96.6 proof. Thought it was a bourbon, but my guess is actually Sagamore Spirit double oak.

3rd place is D
Got rye spice on the nose, but really grassy. Palate grassy rye spice, fruity, and I thought it might be a finished rye. 110 proof is my guess, nice lingering finish. Going with Willett

Ok!!!!

Let's finish it.

2nd place is E. A ton of peanut, oak, caramel, even peanut butter. Translates to the palate, oily...it coats. Nice enjoyable finish, still nutty. I say 128 proof. Little Book

Oops. 1st place A. Nose was rich caramel, oak, cherry, very floral. Got the same on the palate with butterscotch. 90 proof, shorter finish. Probably wrong, but Weller 12 is my guess...lol

All rye, all rye, all rye.

You got 1 out of 5 correct. Here’s your ranking from worst to first:

Lol, I just sent Scott a text that stated I suspected rye A-D. But E, I was positive it was Little Book, Bookers, or Knob creek BOURBON. wow!!!!!!! So much fun, thanks again!

I'm gonna have to look for the New Riff. That might actually be around in these parts. I like the New Riff Bourbon single barrel.
In northern Indiana it's not too bad finding the single barrel bourbon or rye. Indy should be similar.

Blind tasting is a beeyatch. When your favorites lose, there had to be some impurities in the glass or something, right?

My pleasure. Glad you finally got them done. Don’t you own most of these now? Hahahahahaha

No. The New Riff, Stellum, and Willett are not available here. I have had the Willett (thanks @joeyshin for my 2nd bottle) and someone else too at some point for my first, please excuse my memory.

Still cant believe I picked WT RB rye over Willett, while confident it was Beam bourbon...lol!

@Irish , was it you that got me my first Willett??

Yep, I used to have a place that offered the 4 year rye at a fantastic price. They sold out in April and haven't had it since :(

I always enjoy reading these blinds, well done @Big Jilm! And wow, now I have to grab a New Riff SB Dye. Better than Willett????? :p:LOL:

Well, my single barrel New Riff is better than Willett. YMMV. Hahahahaha

Not a store pick. It was a Flaviar mistake that I got to keep at a discount. It was a surprise that is excellent.

My ranking:

1 New Riff
2 Peerless
3 Willett
4 Rare Breed
5 Stellum
I must have a magical bottle of Stellum rye.

It is SO good, one of the best I've had in the last year... I have it way above 1-4 here. I've also had it beat MWND in a tasting too.

Batch 69 (nice) to join batch 56 on the top shelf.

CIGAR BLEND BATCH #69: “TEN LORDS A-LEAPING”
129.72 PROOF

On the tenth day of Christmas, the Leaping Lords are not about to be undone by the rough and rowdy Batch #68, aka “Nine Ladies Dancing.” In this batch we find an old and deep vintage Armagnac barrel influence, with dark dried fruit notes of Medjool dates, black mission figs, grilled peaches, plump dark raisins, and black currants, together with “rancio” old nutty notes of strong and tangy blue vein cheeses such as French Roquefort and English Stilton, wintergreen mint candy, and dark pumpernickel rye. Rich notes of classic Italian Panettone bread, dried mesquite bush, peppermint patties, and mint simple syrup fill the palate. Waves of candy cane, blue-veined cheese, and buttery cinnamon toast with real maple syrup trickle down the gullet. A true gentleman’s dram!

Wow did you write this!? Absolutely stellar write up

I still have yet to try one of these. The Batch 58 is on the top of my list of wants currently.
