Needed another rye in the rotation! This one is still my favorite Sagamore bottle to date. Got one more behind it in the vault. Definitely have to put some into the Ryefinity bottle!

I’m gonna bring down some bottles to share to the meet up this week. Some folks are interested in scotch so looking for some advice/affirmation. Sounds like highland is covered with Oban, and I know @detroitdad likes the Islay.

My “bag” only fits 4 bottles and don’t worry about the limited stuff. I’ve got one of each already bunkered.

Speyside sherry finished easy sipper.
Cask strength Lagavulin for that classic Islay.
Octomore to demonstrate what peat can really do.
Compass box orchard house which smells just like apples and is totally out of the box as a blended scotch and is my wild card.

I could see replacing the compass box with a different compass box, spice tree or menagerie, or something even more main stream scotch but I’m pretty happy with the other 3.

Thoughts?

Damnit damnit damnit Dave, stop posting this nonsense. Now you have me contemplating zipping down to Virginia Friday morning, getting rip roaring drunk Friday afternoon/evening and coming home Saturday morning.............

We can totally make that happen....

Ack!! I was so looking forward to this limited release from my favorite brewery in town. I nosed it and couldn't believe it. Swirled it for a few minutes and took a sip. Notes of balls covered in vomit. Dumped it out immediately, bummer. They should stick to beer, absolute TRASH.

Since it is a local one, did you go and talk to them about it?

my question is how you have a familiarity with that particular tasting note...

No. It is their first ever release. They make beer, not whiskey.
My favorite local craft brewery delved into distilling gin and vodka…neither of which I drink with any frequency. Friends of mine that do say they taste like they were filtered thru an overweight catchers jockstrap. If you’re a brewer, stick to beer SMH

Weller 12 for $16 is not awful.
Weller 12. Finish the bottle
Buffalo Trace $12 vs Weller 12 $16!

Hahahahaha
I’d pay the $16 for the E.H. Taylor as well. It’s rarer than a hens tooth around my parts. But I’d also grab a Weller 12 in a heartbeat!
Ok, 12 it is. But that's misleading!
Weller 12 all day
Ding ding ding!

I read it as well. I am out for the tasting unfortunately. I will say that whoever is shipping can ship mine and @Poker Zombie together, and possibly even @Pinkdan.

Brilliant idea. Anyone know where to get heavy duty shipping boxes? Those help when shipping multiple bottles. And always tape all the corners of the box too! The worst is seeing a box break open
Depending on the pick-up day, I may just drive up for the Middle Tennessee contingent. I really gotta hunt through the emails.
