That’s an option at the ABC. You like?
All 3 of the Redwood Empire offerings are very solid. Personally, I like the rye (Emerald Giant) the best, but that Lost Monarch Blend is very tasty as well. The Pipe Dream bourbon is solid. If you can find the cask strength versions of any of them, they’re really good and we’ll worth the additional cost.

Really nice nose, blast of citrus and berry.

It’s got a little baking spice, citrus, tastes youngish. Not very high proof just a little tingle maybe around 100. Very familiar taste I think I have had This before. Maybe MPG? Could be a Remus

Grey dot sticker blind from @BruceWayne

Nose: rye notes, reminds me of a Willett 4yr rye. I’ve also smelled similar notes in baby saz, and some new riff rye variations. So if this isn’t a rye I’ll be shocked.

Palate: damn this is delicious! Could even be a Canadian rye like Alberta premium or obtanium Canadian rye.

Towards the end of my pour I was getting some really interesting notes that made me consider this was aged in a secondary barrel like rum or possibly wine. Huge pineapple or guava note!! Maybe an unripe mango. So fun!

Age: 4 year ?

Proof: 110

That El Tesoro is one of my favorites! If you’ve never tried their extra anejo, it’s absolutely amazing!

Those other two bottles are pretty good too  :ROFLMAO:
This bottle was 75. The extra anejo was 115 I think. Told the guy let me try the good stuff before I dip into the really good and get spoiled lol

The regular anejo retails for $80 here in NC and the extra anejo is about $150 if I’m not mistaken. I’d jump all over an extra anejo at $115, especially since they’re really difficult to find. Both are great options for high end anejo’s. Enjoy!

When you call out the wife on a 16bottles wine order and you add 1 bottle of whisky thag doubles the entire order  :ROFLMAO: Lesson learned hahaha
I learned the hard way as well. With my chipping and drinking it was too easy for her to counter so now when she buys furniture or any other stuff I tell her how nice it looks lol

Haha solid play

For anyone on here, I have a few rare bottles id be willing to trade off for some chips if anyone is interested.

Blood oath pact 2, pact 3, pact 5
Orphan barrel forged oak 15yr
Orphan barrel copper tongue 16yr (not as rare as the 3 above)

Looking for a few barrels of tiger HS 100, or 500 Mainly. 1k or 5k barrel of each.

I did some sampling this weekend at one of my local stores. The owner is a great resource and has been doing private barrels with most of the distillers since before that was a thing. He gave the PSA that if you haven’t had any of the recent Noah’s Mill, you need to try it. Apparently for the past 4 years Willett has been using much younger and sourced juice, but recent batches are much older Willett. Look for something late 21 or 22, which should be readily available for under $60

Not MGP, I don’t think they have an age statement, you nailed the 100 proof.

I promise this is the only time I will shill, well for myself. I, with my BiL, have run a Whisky Wednesday tasting night for several years. Well until the recent unpleasantness. In any case we are back and had our first tasting (sold out!) this week. If you're interested look for Whisky Brothers on Facebook (we're out on Twitter and Insta too). Our first session back was on Burns' Night proper so "Scotch Drink" was the order of the day.

"Gie him strong drink until he wink,
That's sinking in despair;
An' liquor guid to fire his bluid,
That's prest wi' grief and care:
There let him bouse, an' deep carouse,
Wi' bumpers flowing o'er,
Till he forgets his loves or debts,
An' minds his griefs no more. "

MGP's in house Rye. Been wanting to pop this. It's Fryeday so here go. The KCSB is on deck and the only other Rye open.

Hard Oaked Rye. A little harsh/hot on first pour. The finish is subtle complex. This could be really good as it opens up. I'm intrigued.
