Had a bbq yesterday for my 45th. These were all gift bottles and a couple bottles I traded with @BruceWayne for. Needless to say I’m moving pretty slowly today.

Just makes me like scotch even less...

Lol, I'm down to learn though. Someone convince me!! Samples. Not peated...
It's just octomore nerd stuff, right? Like there are 12,000 bottles of .1, .2, and .3 every year. There are 3,000 bottles of .4/whatever special they call it that year. It is 'distillery only'. No one who isn't into that profile is just going to question how you can consume this stuff and still be human. I can't even drink it in the same room as my wife cause she will complain about the smell.

But for those who truly love it, there is nothing that hits those same things. ~$200 a bottle for each of them, I'd pay it gladly. I can only reliably get them from the distillery itself so no middle man, okay. $100 to have them shipped from Scotland to my front door, alright, I can deal. But ffs put them all out at the same time and let me at least combine the shipping.

I'll gladly send you or anyone samples of unpeated stuff. I've got more whiskey than a person could drink in a lifetime at this point.

That’s supposedly Belle Meade Reserve at a slightly different proof. If you’re familiar with BMR, how does it compare?
Sorry, I don't think I've had the BMR. This is pretty smooth, I get lots of vanilla and berries on the palate, gives a nice warm hug. Oak comes on and it dries out nicely with just a bit of pepper on the finish.

If it’s an auction, you may be able to steal it, good luck! Also, those are not the premium bottles of those brands.
This! Not even actual Pappy, and Weller SR is a $25 bottle. I will say though, I had a taste of Old Rip a couple of weeks ago, and it's very good. I assume VW12 is even better. If the food and service is good and you have 9 friends you really like, or who will pay their share, it could be a fun night. If you can snatch it for about $1500. Are you each getting one poor from the bottles, or the entire bottle?

I would hope the winner gets the bottles, which happened to be shared among 10. Plus food.

"After taking office last month, Kotek, a Democrat who was a long-serving Oregon House speaker, asked for Marks’ resignation, but no reason was announced. Kotek said she learned of this business about the bourbon afterward."

This looks to me like it's more about politics than about removing them for any major abuse of power. She wanted to get rid of him from the start, but didn't have a reason. So she went looking for some dirt. When it comes to all the real abuses of power in our state and federal governments, this is a teeny tiny one. He used his influence to get some rare whiskey, that he paid for himself, and he and his staff members drank it themselves. It would be totally different if he were taking delivery of cases of it and reselling it for huge profits. Pretty much anyone who has the opportunity to buy a bottle of Pappy 23 probably used some type of influence to get that chance. This is a nothing burger in my opinion.

Not to be pedantic, but Highland Park isn't an Islay--it is from the Orkney Islands. While it has peat and smoke, it's not like an Islay. I think it is an excellent balance, and at that pricepoint, an outstanding value.

A bit higher up in price is Oban 14, which is my pick as the best all-weather, all-taste-profiles single malt scotch. Nothing else comes close, in my opinion.

Not a scotch guy but I love all whiskey. Oban is one of my Scottish go tos. My other is Lagavulin 16
