Update

Its been a while but we are getting closer to making our barrel pick. New Riff was booke dout so far our pick is scheduled Aug 25th.
Just wanted everyone who purchased bottles to know everything is on track and invoice is paid in full for the battles, we just have to play the waiting game.

OK y'all. I have a good question for you whiskey experts. About a week and a half ago, I had some family staying with us for two nights. I gave them access to my bar. Tonight I went in there and grabbed a bottle to pour a fRYEday drink. Egads!!! They had poured a drink and not put the stopper back on the bottle!!!

I assume some amount of alcohol would have evaporated over that period of time. Any idea what the impact would be on the whiskey? I'm sipping it now, but don't really have a good memory of what it tasted like before to compare to.

Water and alcohol definitely left that bottle, especially if your house is warm in that Texas heat. If it were me, I’d finish it soon. If it still tastes fine to you then keep drinking it neat.

Again, no real memory of what it tasted like before, but it tastes fine. Surprised that it still has a solid burn. I would think that mostly alcohol would have evaporated, leaving a weaker tasting spirit.

This happened to me with a bottle of willet once where the stopper was slightly open for a good while. Still drank it. It became very sweet and more viscous. Almost maple syrup

Following up on the glasses discussion. I have a bunch of glencairns but I periodically will sit around with friends trying a whole bunch of things and I’d like something smaller where 1/2 oz doesn’t look so silly. Any recommendations for a good whiskey tasting glass?

They do make small Glencairns that are more like a 2oz glass. That would be an option.

Is this no longer called Stagg Jr? Looks like they took the "Jr" off the label.

i use these and love them. They have heft and shaped for nosing. They hold much more than regular glencairn. I dont even use my glencairns anymore

I have these, and I like them a lot. Unfortunately, looks like they are currently out of stock. I paid $19 for a dozen of them.

Exactly what I’m looking for. Shame they’re out of stock.

These look alright but not as ideal. https://a.co/d/bpTF45q

Honestly I find the small disposable plastic wine cups perfect for tasting nights - they're cheap, clear so you can see the color, and the shape allows you to swirl and nose very well. And it beats washing 50 glasses lol.
